Lisbon Road Animal Hospital was founded by Dr. Gallager in 1968. In 1973, Dr. Charles Scheib purchased the practice, and with the help of his excellent support staff the practice grew until 1995 when Dr. Robert Clark was hired as an associate. Dr. Clark bought into the practice the following year. It was shortly after this that the building underwent its first renovation.
Dr. Michelle Morgan joined LRAH in 2001, and purchased Dr. Scheib's remaining interest in the practice in 2005. Dr. Scheib continued on at the hospital until his retirement, and still occasionally fills in for us during the summer months. It was also during this time period that the hospital underwent several more small renovations.

Wellness Exams - At Lisbon Road Animal Hospital, wellness exams are more than just annual vaccination visits. While vaccines will typically be updated at this time, regular physical exams are vital to maintaining your pet's health.
The wellness exam provides an opportunity for the veterinarian to examine the entire pet, detect early warning signs of illness or disease, answer any questions you may have, and make individualized recommendations for your pet.It is also important to remember that our pets age much faster than people, and as a result more frequent check-ups may be recommended for pets under six months of age, or as they enter their senior years.

Melinda has been employed at the Animal Hospital since 2005. Melinda enjoys spending time with her family, playing with Haylee, the family's dog, knitting and crocheting as well as outdoor activities. Melinda is a very outgoing person who always shows her concerns and care for all the clients of the animal hospital.
At Lisbon Road Animal Hospital we recognize how stressful it can be for everyone involved in bringing a cat in for a visit. We also know how very important these visits are, whether they are for routine preventative care or illness. As a result we are committed to try and make this important part of your cat's care as painless as possible (for both of you)!
One the most common concerns during the spring and summer months are fleas, ticks, and other biting insects. Both fleas and ticks are determined to make our pet's lives miserable by causing lots of discomfort and even spreading such serious diseases as lyme and heartworm disease. We will be happy to discuss the preventatives that we currently recommend for these and the other parasites that we come across in Maine.
They may be miniscule in size, but fleas are irritating, unpleasant, and can be difficult to eliminate from your home and your environment. Fleas can also pose health risks to our pets including transmitting tapeworms, skin irritations, allergies to flea bites, and if left untreated, more severe health hazards.

I like the way the staff at the Lisbon Road Animal Hospital treat me and my animals. Recently one of my cats was sick and they got us in to be seen asap! I am always able to get answers to my questions. They take time with me and my cats and let me decide what the best affordable care options are available. It is a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Even though you do have to make your appointments over 2 months out cuz they're so busy and short-staffed I had a emergency situation and they were able to get me right in and treat my cat for a big open wound when I left I felt so much better about my cat's well-being. Unfortunately my mr. Diesel was not too happy about the trip. LOL.

Over the past decades this hospital has treated my 2 ferrets,1 cat and 7dogs. Although staff has changed throughout the years, the care, compassion and professionalism remained the same. The hospital grows and has the greatest and latest. The rehabilitation services, has come to the aid of 3 of my dogs with back issues. The vets provide alternatives in treatments and are compassionate when the time arrives for our companions to cross that Bridge. I definitely recommend them for your companions treatment.

It's no easy task being responsible for our "fur-babies", but the whole team at Lisbon Road Animal Hospital does it with such grace and professionalism, they make it look easy. We have been taking out dogs there for years and years and I have never had any issues. They are always so kind and they even seem to remember our pups names just when we walk through the door. I don't envy the hard jobs they have some days when pets are sick or dying....I know I couldn't do it.
It's nice to know there are still so many good human beings around.
Thank you all.
