What a journey! We've gone from running two physical spaces, to pivoting entirely online. We said goodbye to the Manhattan Institute this Spring, and hello to many of you in person again at our Brooklyn Institute for hybrid classes this Fall. Through it all, you remain at the center of our efforts, and our mission, to provide a home for the teaching and study of Iyengar Yoga.
As a non-profit, you support us in so many ways throughout the year, including: taking classes, joining our Membership Program, volunteering your time, and participating in events. However you're able to engage, know that you're contributing to the success of our organization. Today marks the start of our Fall Fund.

Profound, intelligent, and transformative, Iyengar Yoga is for every age, body type, and fitness level. Iyengar Yoga provides practical tools to create and maintain bodily health and vitality, mental clarity, emotional serenity, and spiritual well-being. Developed by B.K.S. Iyengar during his more than 75 years of teaching, Iyengar Yoga is grounded in the ancient Indian tradition and philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Founded in 1987, the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York (IYAGNY) is a vibrant and thriving nonprofit educational organization. The Association serves more than 1,400 Members throughout our three-state region of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Association runs two teaching Institutes, one in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, and the other in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
The Iyengar Yoga Institutes of New York and Brooklyn offers daily live online Iyengar Yoga classes. Live-online classes are offered in real time with you, the teacher and other students connecting virtually through Zoom, a video conferencing software. You will be able to see the teacher and interact with them.
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our Brooklyn Institute for Fall 2021 Hybrid: In-Person/Online. The Brooklyn Institute is located at 525 Pacific Street, steps from the Atlantic Avenue/Barclay's Center subway hub: B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, 5, LIRR, as well as the G at Fulton Street, and the A, C at Hoyt/Schermerhorn.
Our unique online yoga program is designed to enrich your child's education, nourish their creativity, and build connection. In addition to being a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Kevin is also trained in acting, improv comedy, sketch comedy and theatrical clown. During the Institute's Kids Yoga & Creativity camps, Kevin's improv games sparked imaginations and helped kids from all over the world connect with one another.

One star for one of the classes I took. The instructor was obnoxious and full of himself. I travel a lot, so this is the only iyengar yoga school I visit when in NYC. The class was ok, but the atmosphere was very cold, and he was not willing to let people try . Very controlling, bossy and downright rude instructor. Never had such an experience at other reputed Iyengar yoga centers across US.

I decided to try this place out since it's right down the street from my house and I found a Groupon that provided the first month at a discounted price + 20% extra off. If you don't have the extra 20% off, it's not really worth it since as a newbie you can get your first month relatively cheap so make sure to price check.

Iyengar Yoga has been written about, and critiqued and argued about so much that it's practically impossible to get a sense of what it's about. Put simply, this is 'craft' yoga - done uber-methodically, with endless attention to detail. It's impossible to give a simple description of what the method is without doing it a great disservice. If you really want to have an 'opinion' that you can lay on the internet about Iyengar Yoga, I strongly suggest trying classes _regularly_ at IYNY for a while. Every teacher embraces the tradition with a distinctly individual pedagogical voice. Don't eat the conveyor
