Please note that terms used in the martial arts often are specialized terms and may be used differently in conversation. Japanese who are not martial artists are often not familiar with these expressions. For example, the term "nukiuchi" means "suprise attack" in martial arts but in schools it means "pop quiz".
1. Seek perfection of character. As we perfect our karate techniques our true character becomes apparent. We need to continue to improve the quality and strength of our techniques to further improve our character. Do the "right" things. 5. Guard against abuse of skill. As our skill increases the danger of harming others also increases.

It's virtually impossible to find a school still connected to their origins but every Wadoryu black belt from Sensei Nishimura is registered in Japan and their name hangs on a plaque in the main Tokyo HQ. The Grand Master also occasionally visits the Laguna Niguel dojo as he will in 2016, which is almost unheard. If you're looking for authentic traditional Japanese karate, this is the real deal, not a martial arts chain where you can pretty much buy a black belt. A 7th degree black belt, Sensei Nishimura is highest ranking active Wadoryu instructor in the U.S. and an inductee in The Masters
