Services
Amy first came to Barataria Dental, LLC in 1978 as Dr. Guy's dental assistant. She now helps lead the team with Dr. Valerie and Dr. Maria as the Office Manager. She attended LW Higgins High School in Marrero. She has trained as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant and is certified in Radiology. She has over 30 years of experience in the dental field.

Barataria Dental is a general, family and cosmetic dentistry practice, founded in 1965 by Dr. Guy Ribando. Today, Dr. Maria Burmaster and Dr. Valerie Hemphill carry on their father's practice, now at Barataria Dental. We are conveniently located in Marrero, Louisiana and serve the entire West Bank of New Orleans.
Dr. Valerie R. Hemphill earned a Bachelor of Science from Southeastern Louisiana University prior to attending Louisiana State University School of Dentistry from 1989-1993. Along with Dr. Maria, Dr. Valerie graduated in 1993 earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Dr. Valerie has been an active member of the New Orleans, Louisiana, and American Dental Associations since 1993, and is a member of the Crescent City Study Club branch of the Seattle Study Club.She achieved additional training in the treatment of TMJ disorder, occlusion and Invisalign through the Dawson Center.

Such a wonderful & well skilled staff. The technology was on point. Such a great place. Would say to anyone if you looking for a dentist Dr Valarie or Dr Maria well take great care of your smile. I have always had great experiences at your office, starting with Dr. Guy right out of dental school. Y'all have made me feel comfortable and like a cherished patient and friend.

Went in for a wisdom tooth extraction not knowing what to expect. I've heard horror stories of extractions gone wrong, and dry socket. Dr. Val was amazing, funny, and very good at her job. Was virtually painless during the process, and never felt pain a single time after the extraction. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Dr. Val, Maranda,and EVERYONE at this office are amazing. Everyone is always, ALWAYS friendly! They explain and go into great detail about anything and everything you need to know. They make sure you are always comfortable and have up to date technology that makes going to the dentist not so scary. They have completely transformed my teeth making smiling something I enjoy doing in my pictures now. I went in for a deep cleaning (after not being to the dentist in a while I had some buildup) and now I have a cleaner, fuller, and whiter smile. They go above and beyond patient care. I recommend them

My experience with Barataria Dental was superb! I had to get some dental work done within a week of me calling because I was scheduled to leave town for a business opportunity. They squeezed me in for three different appointments, one to see what was wrong, one to fix my fillings and another to do tooth extractions. I never felt judged or talked down to. I felt like these were my friends who happened to be working on my teeth. The front desk to the operation room, you’re going to get a good experience. I visited Barataria Dental today. It was my first time ever walking in and the lady behind the desk, Ms. Tammy, greeted me by name which was really surprising and impressive. She was super friendly and answered all my questions. You know when employees talk highly about their bosses that it's a good place to be. The "paperwork" was all electronic which was awesome. The next lady I met was Sherri and she understood that I was uncomfortable with the mouth piece for x-rays. She was working extremely fast to take the x-rays as quick as possible and get that thing out of my mouth. I was very grateful
