Determining if your hardwood floor needs a complete sand and finish depends on multiple things, a wood floor that has been used will ultimately over time, have scratches, nick, dings and dents.

Always vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and grit prior to cleaning your wood floors with the WoodFloorWipe Brand Hardwood Floor Cleaning Kit. Lightly mist an 8'x8' area of your wood floor, or directly mist the Bona Mop terry cloth cover, with Bona Swedish Formula Hardwood Floor Cleaner. You can also use a mixture of one cup of white vinegar per gallon of water and a terry cloth covered "swiffer".
DO NOT USE: wax, oil soaps, or other householdcleaners on your polyurethane finished wood floor. The use of these products can dull today's floor finishesand make refinishing difficult. Oil soaps are especially bad, they cause extensive finish adhesion problems because they soak into the soft grains and cracks of the wood.

After trying to work with another company that traded endless emails without ever looking at the existing floors, I contacted Jeff at Imperial.
He replied quickly, looked at the house within a couple days, and gave me a fair estimate.
He installed new subflooring throughout the downstairs, then he and his team laid 450 sq. ft. of prefinished hickory flooring that I'd purchased in advance.
The floors look great, and I always knew when Jeff's team would be there. They stayed on schedule and on budget. And (thanks to some jobs that got postponed while waiting for wood to arrive) they

Wow! Our floors are beautiful! Jeff and his crew did an amazing job refinishing the oak floors in a home we bought. They know what they're doing and exceeded our expectations. We are thrilled with the results.

My partner and I moved into a 30+ year old home that had original wood floors that were pretty scratched, stained, and old looking. We absolutely love the refinishing job that Jeff and his crew did. Words cannot describe how impressed we are with the work done by Jeff and his team. We had Jeff consult on refinishing neglected original hardwood in a home we were purchasing as well as putting new hardwood in our living room/dining room area. He was professional, quick with his estimate, and more than willing to answer the multiple questions we had about the process. Once the project was booked and we had moved into the home we discovered the previous owners had allowed a pet to destroy the carpeted area we intended to have hardwood placed. These guys are great. We moved into a new home with worn flooring and asked Imperial to refinish it. Jeff gave us a good price (more than some other contractors, but there was no question he knows what he's doing), and he plus Nathan and Dustin did an outstanding job.
It wasn't a standard job. In one room there was some chemical reaction between the finish and something the previous owners had put on the floor. This is where do-it-yourself knowledge ends because what would you do as a homeowner when confronted with such a problem? Even though it was early Friday evening when this appeared

These guys are the real deal! The owner is honest and personable without pressuring your decision. Price was extremely reasonable for quality of work! I can not thank Imperial Hardwood Floors for updating my main level and creating a streamline, seamless flow between new and existing hardwoods.
