Thank you Dharma Yoga Cener !
I have first found Dharma's teachings through the teachers that graduated from the studio and I must say that while there are so many wonderful yoga centers and teachers, the practicality and ability to relate yoga to daily life, the compassion and knowledge as well as a touch of humor and so much devotion, humbleness that Dharma and really all his teachers share with you really makes it such a special place to be. A wonderful place for authentic spiritual seekers and those who just want to do a little yoga asana either way you will feel right at HOME. :)

Dharma Yoga is NYC's best kept secret for yogis who want to learn from a true master. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this studio several years ago -- the online zoom classes are just as magical as the in-person ones. If you're looking for a slice of heaven, this is the place for you. OM namah shivayah.

I just finished 200hr teacher training at Dharma Yoga Center this July. I was not an experienced or regular yoga practitioner before the training, but I fell in love with Dharma Yoga, I have a few reasons here. First of all, the main reason is Sri Dharma Mittra himself. I was so surprised an 80-year-old man is still teaching Master Classes all over the world and never tired of sharing his knowledge and offering his help. He is a living master to me and a model to look up to. From my perspectives, he represents yoga, he embodies yoga, and he lives in yoga. And this was undoubtedly the top reason

My girlfriend and I used our class pass to get in while I was visiting her. I'm certainly not new to yoga but I'm also not a yogi. This center was more than accommodating to a helping me with some of my form. When I'm in town, I will try this center out again. I liked the focus on my breath. Thank you Rashila for a great experience.

I've never been to the studio but have taken various Zoom classes from them. I mostly liked them but they are definitely different from classes elsewhere. I couldn't find info on Yelp which would have helped me before taking a class, so here are some descriptions, in case helpful to you:
- I took an all levels 60 minute "charging practice" which I would say was up to intermediate, although I think it included pincha early on right after a couple of sun salutations which caught me off guard. Other poses were generally what I expected from an open level class, good for any

Great non-competitive yoga vibe with an awesome sense of community amongst the practitioners. i practiced AND did a teacher-training here and regardless of what i was there to do, my takeaways were one of the greatest I have ever had the honour to have. especially when I get to meet GURUJI Dharma. I truly look forward to my next visit here for this new year.

I love this yoga studio. The teachers are very helpful & make sure you get the poses right. The studio is quite big and there's always enough space for everyone. The prices are reasonable for NYC. I love the area too, it's right in the middle of the city. The lady at the desk could be nicer though, she seems as though she's always in a bad mood. All of the other staff are pleasant. I will be returning.

I'm a complete n00b at yoga and only have experience from here so I have nothing to compare this facility and instructors to.
When this place was on 23rd st., I thought it was nice and clean. They'd make you take your shoes off in the hallway where they had a wall shoe rack. You'd check in at the desk. They had 2 makeshift changing rooms, which did it's job and was private enough. They had 2 smaller rooms and 1 big room for their classes. The big room is on the street side so sometimes you'll be able to hear the traffic. They could have done a better job at telling people

I took a lovely class this morning that I thoroughly enjoyed. The studio is lovely. However, I have to warn anyone coming to take a class from Sri Dharma Mittra that the studio is not good about updating their website. When we arrived, the host announced that we would have a last minute substitute. When we asked Mittra's whereabouts, we were told he is teaching a workshop in Mexico. A girl in class said she'd been to the studio 5 times and never taken a class from him, "because he is never there." This is lack of mindfulness is not expected from a yoga community member, anywhere

My first exposure to Sri Dharma was not at this New York City Center but at the winter weekend retreat held at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. This was during a period of my life where my interest in a deeper yoga study was intensifying. Friends of mine recommended this retreat as a way to learn from a True Master of the practice. In just three days that February in Massachusetts my yoga life changed a lot, in a good way. Dharma opened the weekend with a "spiritual discourse" weaving sacred teachings of yoga with modern themes, and with a technical understanding of the wonders

I have been practicing and going through Life of a Yogi Teacher training at Dharma Yoga Center. I am very impressed with this place and all people working over there. It has been such a life changing experience all the way from the beginning.

My experience at the Dharma Yoga Center was nothing short of life changing. I attended one of Sri Dharma's Maha Sadhana on April 14, 2018 , became a vegan that day and started to think about my advanced yoga teacher training. I had always learned the best yoga through my personal practice and from a book. My favorite yoga book was The Sivananda Companion to Yoga and I would practice out of that book. It turns out Sivananda was a well respected guru of Sri. Dharma Mittra's and so I was already learning some of his teachings. After 8 years of teaching yoga, I decided to participate in the Life of

I have been practicing at Dharma Yoga Center for the past year and a half and love EVERYTHING about it. There were some periods of time when I didn't come in for awhile, but each time I returned, I realized how much better this studio is than any other studio I've been to. The entire place is spotless, including the restrooms. It is conveniently located less than a block from the F/M lines. Being able to register for your classes online makes life easier.
The staff and instructors are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Joanne is a pleasure to speak to every time I walk

Although I enjoyed my sessions with everybody including Ile and of course the master himself, Dharma Mittra, I was very moved by Andrew's patience and dedication with this beginner. Even though at first I would have perhaps responded better with a slightly slower pace, he always encouraged me and allowed me to realize how physical goals are intertwined with psychological mindsets. He was a gentle yet effective support who made me forget the limitations of self-imposed chronological age benchmarks.
The center is highly recommended.
Thank you again to everybody.

This has always been my favorite studio. I recently went to the restorative yoga class with Will and it was amazing - everything I was looking for in a restorative and meditative class. The people who work there are informed, kind and will gladly help and answer all of your questions. The location is clean, serene and peaceful. Plenty of parking in the lot and area feels safe. There are neighborhood cats :) I love it and can't wait to go back weekly

Cancelled Workshop without ANY Notification!
I signed up for a workshop, paying in advance. I checked the Dharma’s website 2 hours before the workshop, and it showed the event was still active. However, when I arrived, the receptionist informed me it was cancelled weeks ago.
I received NO notification of the cancellation: that is NO email, NO phone call, NO refund prior to my arrival. This experience cost me a 1.5 hour round trip commute, $7.00 in train fare, and the opportunity to do other fun Sunday activities.

This review is for the 800hr level Life Of A Yogi teacher training program. When I heard that this program was being offered I immediately signed up, no questions asked. I knew that it would be life changing and that I NEEDED to do it. After completing the two previous LOAY (Life Of A Yogi) trainings I definitely knew how to teach a yoga class but I still wanted more, to continue to be a student. This training takes you deeper into the more refined practices of yoga, beyond just the poses and the breathing. This programs take you to a whole new spiritual and mental depth and development.

I love this place! Whenever I visit New York, Dharma Yoga is my home away from home. I've gone just to spend a weekend practicing there. It's like getting my batteries recharged to be in that space. The studio itself is very conveniently situated in the Flatiron District. There are great vegan options right near the studio where you can get food after classes. When you get up to the studio itself it's like entering a bubble where the hustle and bustle of the streets of Manhattan fade away and you feel calm and welcome. It's like a yoga oasis.

Spent some time in NYC recently and am so grateful for the teachings of Dharma Mittra. I think he is a good example for us all.
I was lucky enough to take some classes from him and I loved every single moment. His classes pushed me to the edge of what I thought I was capable of and gave me new insights about myself.
I think Dharma brings out the best in a lot of his students.
I loved the master classes. They were difficult but they also gave me inspiration on what is possible. I met so many wonderful people in the classes I attended there. I don't want to say they were enlightened but

As someone who previously subscribed to the church of hot yoga as my first and only yoga experience this studio is refreshing but no less the sweat dropper.
open level class is challenging but you're not pushed to the point of injury. I have attended two weeks in a row and noticed a considerable difference. The instructor did a fantastic job at keeping our 3rd on the prize.
I would also highly recommend the meditation class. I found myself in a deep trance and felt so decompressed after.
The facilities are super clean ... wide open spaces with a nice zen vibe. It's a great place

I call Dharma Yoga my yoga home in NYC. I absolutely adore this place. The studio is warm and inviting. The people who run it are kind, thoughtful and dedicated. The students are open, friendly and non-competitive. The common practice in New York of looking over one's shoulder to see if there's someone doing the pose "better" does not happen here. This is pure and honest yoga for the sake of advancing the body, mind and soul.

Sri Dharma Mittra is a great teacher and such as joy to practice under.. Studying from a master is definitely something different.
