The Country Doctor Veterinary Hospital was established in 1980 by Dr. James H. Langman in Orefield, Pennsylvania. Dr. Langman had previously operated another successful veterinary hospital in the area. His decision to retire from that practice and pursue his other love, farming, was met with much resistance from his loyal clients, who continued to seek his services.
Having no facility in which to treat patients, Dr. Langman began to see appointments in the laundry room of his home. It wasn't long before he outgrew the laundry room and built a small hospital on his property. His veterinary skills and James Herriot like reputation continued to draw new clients despite the secluded location of the hospital.

Services
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.
Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Our goal is to provide quality rehabilitation care for companion animals with orthopedic or neurological problems. Our approach is case based; this means each patient receives the personalized care and program that fits his or her individual needs. Each patient will be assessed and measured prior to beginning any program.
A dental prophylaxis is the removal of plaque and calculus from teeth both above and below the gum line. Nearly 85% of all companion animals suffer from periodontal disease. Marked signs of this ailment include bad breath (halitosis), inflammation and bleeding of the gums (gingivitis), and pain. If left untreated, periodontal disease can be implicated in more serious conditions affecting organs such as the kidneys and liver.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past.
Here at Country Doctor Veterinary Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet. Preanesthetic blood testing is recommended to reduce the risk of anesthesia.

This is a remarkable veterinary hospital! I recently had to say goodbye to my fur-baby and their team was amazing; kind, caring, and compassionate. I was beside myself and they guided me through with such empathy. There is no question that they treat every single animal that comes through there like it is their own. They are more than reasonable on the cost of their services and getting you an appt as soon as possible. Highly recommend using them!

Thoroughly impressed with this vet. The techs were kind, gentle, and asked tons of questions. The vet herself called me afterwards to give a long, detailed debrief on each of my kitties. This place gave my new pets the time and attention I didn't think you could find any more, and did so at a fair price. We'll be back.

They are very compassionate and professional. They have been taking care of my pets for many years. I would not take my pets anywhere else. They never give up on trying to do what ever is needed to get them well if they are sick or injured. They understand that our pets are family. I'm very grateful for them and all that they do! Thank you Country Doctor ❣️
