Sometimes our path becomes challenging. We may feel stuck, despairing, or hopeless. We may be lost, or it may seem as if we are heading in the wrong direction. Pain or emotional wounds may resurface. There may be distance or conflict with our companion. When the old ways of navigating no longer serve us, our strengths may not be as accessible, and fear or exhaustion may keep us from taking another step.

I see myself as a guide in that process - listening, supporting, and walking beside you. I can help you remove obstacles, learn new strategies, and access your inner and relational resources. Ultimately, the path can lead to healing, greater self-awareness, and more connected relationships. I am unable to accommodate new clients at this time.
Services
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, and clinical supervision in North Tacoma. Psychotherapy is a calling for me. The spark that ignited long ago continued to build over the decades. The path of serving others, being a part of their healing process, continues to inform my own journey.
My practice specializes in adult individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, and clinical supervision. Trauma (childhood abuse, recent or past trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and dissociation). I am an Approved Supervisor with AAMFT, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the State of Washington Department of Health.
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services. Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?.
I Don't Want to Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression - Terrence Real. The Mindful Way Through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness - Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Zindel Segal and Jon Kabbat-Zinn. The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind and Body in the Healing of Trauma - Bessel van der Kolk.

Report
I work in emergency services. Life was piling on, and I was hurting. My relationships suffered with me. I couldn't seem to manage routine challenges.
After researching the south sound area Dr Franks was my first choice. He made time for me. His service has helped me trend in a good direction. My marriage is in a place that feels strong and sustainable. My children and friends seem to enjoy being around me again.
It has been work! But with each success brings more energy.
From everyone in my life, thank you Dr Franks!
