We spent a few days in the Truckee area to visit our new grandson. The Truckee Donner Lodge was a good deal compared to what we would have paid at other hotels and condos (watch those fees at these places). The TD Lodge was clean, surprisingly quiet, and offered a pretty good breakfast included in the room price. The room had a few minor cosmetic flaws (like cracked tiles and light switches, chipped porcelain in the tub, etc.) but the reasonable room price more than made up for them.
Our room overlooked a snowy Alpine view with large conifers (see photo taken from the window in our room). Our

We have come here often. This time it was way more expensive than in previous time, although they have not made any renovations or offer new services. Beds are ok. Rooms are decent. Breakfast is decent.

The staff was professional and welcoming. Both the outside and inside lobby of the hotel are a nice view. The room was clean and a good amount of channels to watch on TV. The hotel is a short drive to downtown truckee and nearby ski resorts. If you are looking for affordable hotel room in Truckee then this place is it.

Nice room. Phone didn’t work in our room. The people above us must have had kids in the room because I listened to jumping and running for the last half hour. Couldn’t call the front desk, so I walked down there to tell them. They didn’t have any extra pillows, even though I booked this room weeks ago and it was in our special instructions. I got the feeling that she didn’t really want to help me. Likely won’t return, but it’s fine for one night.

Poor customer service! A group of us came to stay and 3 out of five rooms had major issues. Two rooms were overcharged /charged for the wrong room and another had a problem with a fire alarm going off all through the night. Front desk refused to get clean towels for us. They had a 15 year old staffed during prime time of check in and out she was poorly dressed in crop top and cut up jeans looked like she was more suited for the street then greeting guests at a hotel.

Great spot to stay in Truckee! Clean rooms, friendly staff and close to several ski resorts. I will be staying here whenever possible while up for snow days.

Me and my cousin got stuck in a winter storm and had to spend the night here. The woman at the front desk was incredibly kind and helped turn our night around. The hotel was nice and clean and the breakfast the next morning was definitely Covid friendly. I would definitely recommend this just based off the hospitality.

Five stars and I didn't even stay there! We were on a long road trip and had fallen behind in bad traffic in Vacaville, Sacramento, and coming up I80. We pulled in to TDL (where we have stayed in the past) to see if they had any room for the two of us and our pet. They said they don't take pets, but they knew a place down the road that did. They actually called ahead to see if there were any rooms available and there were so we were good to go. How fabulous to stumble into truly helpful front desk people who wanted to see that we were taken care of. We had stayed at TDL many years

This place was a top notch! It's clean, breakfast is included, accessible... but the best part was the service. Seriously the best! Celeste at the front desk was incredibly helpful, and the staff were friendly as well. We'd been in a car crash and were stranded in the area overnight and found TDL to be near where we were. They were accommodating, and went out of their way to help out-- couldn't have asked for a better spot.

Rooms are clean and spacious with plenty of storage, mini fridge and microwave. The beds are comfy, staff is nice, the 24hr espresso/coffee/ cocoa machine in the lobby is a big hit, and breakfast is diverse.

This hotel was in good conditions and well maintained but the receptionists were super rude and disrespectful. If only they can get better employees, to be specific I'm referring to receptionists with good manners, then the hotel overall would be great.

I'm giving the lodge a one star not because they don't have a good hotel, but because on March 16 power was lost and the whole place was dark. None of the emergency lights worked. Nothing in stairway, hallways, exit signs. I had to go back to my work site to get portable lights. I asked attending manager is she knew when power could be restored and she said I'll give you the number to call ???? Like that is my job. I had to take a cold shower after working 12 hours. I should have taken a dip in the lake.

Wonderful staff! We stayed on a Friday night and wanted to stay an extra night but they were booked. Liliana at the front desk worked her magic and we were able to keep our same 2 rooms. Clean and warm, will definitely stay again.

Stayed there from Jan 13-15 2020.
Decent place, rooms are good, clean and the staff is friendly. However being that said there are a couple of things, I feel I need to point out:
* Breakfast: it was good but the selection was slim.
* Heating/cooling system in the room: it is a antiquated system. You seem them a console on the fool near the window. It was hard to keep the room temperature just right. It was either too hot or too cold. Overall it is a decent room, despite its quirks.

I've been here a handful of times the past several years during the snow season. The location is convenient to the highway and to downtown truckee. Customer service is great, I've never had any issues with booking or late check ins. Breakfast is decent, lodge is average but I definitely stay here for the convenience factor. It's nice to be fairly close to everything, especially when traveling with children.

Beautiful inside and great view of the hills. Had a beet salad, roasted carrots and roasted chicken. I'm an experienced cook, and my chicken was raw. They had to take it back and recook it. My entire party finished their dinner before I got my dish back. Chicken was not exciting - no variance in flavor, skin was crispy but not well seasoned. The burger my husband had was good, but the fries were undercooked. I wouldn't return.

Five stars for the hotel- not base on the fancy level.
Located conveniently nearby freeway. Room was comfortable, nice bedding, very clean. It is a lodge for skiing patronage therefore I think they meet the expectation.
Breakfast is included. Very small area for you to get food, there is line. Nothing was great but bacon. They do have waffle fresh made by you which is nice.
Front desk is very helpful.
If you want a convenient, comfortable place to stay for your skiing visit. It is the right place for you.

It's kinda basic. If you aren't lucky enough to have your own Tahoe ski house, this is a good lodging option that's all about location. Super convenient to I-80 and to Tahoe Donner Ski Resort. Also, Soda Springs & Sugar Bowl are just down the freeway a bit. Location is the main draw and 48 hour cancellation is good in case a storm blows through and ruins your weekend plans.
Staff was friendly, rooms are fairly clean, but not fancy. Bathtub could use new grout - kinda corroded.
Breakfast was adequate, although it's a sh*tshow in the AM with 40 people all scrambling for a

Love this place! Can't wait to go back for our next trip to the snow.

The lobby has a self serve hot chocolate, coffee, tea, etc. bar that is perfect for the morning before you hit the road or slopes. Also for the welcome drink that you'd receive when you stay in high class resorts, but without feeling as if you're under dressed!

I sent an email asking to check in 1 hour early a week before my reservation. I never got a response. I called the day before and asked if it was possible to check in early and was told it might be possible. I arrived 30 mins early. My room wasn't ready, which is fine, and the front desk lady politely told me check in time is after 3. So, I sat down. I'm still here waiting at 3:45 pm. I have watched no less than 8 families/couples check in before me. No one has offered an apology or even acknowledged that I am still waiting. The lobby seems ok. At this point, I might as well take a nap

Eastbound on 80, the first hotel you see in Truckee isn't all that bad.

The Truckee Donner Lodge was one of the few places I could get a room with same-day notice on a summer Saturday. And not exactly a cheap room - $169 seemed a bit steep for such a no-frills place, but it was cheaper than a lot of other places nearby. I suppose it is a tourist area.

Beyond that, I can't say too much more. An average room with average amenities. (Think Holiday Inn). Very clean. Free wi-fi was a plus. Bad room coffee was a minus (but they made up for it with good coffee in the lobby). The only other
