We had a great experience at the Truckee Hotel. The room was clean, fresh and the coffee maker and Peet's coffee were really appreciated. It was great that we had bottled water, coffee and some snacks in the morning.
The communication with the staff was prompt. They encouraged texting and the texts were answered right away. We also received a number of phone calls to see if our stay was going well. Just a few suggestions for the owners, the lighting in the room is so dim, please add a brighter option and maybe ceiling fans. The floor is quite uneven, we felt like we were on a cruise ship

We paid $250 after taxes for a queen size bed. There is no AC in the room and the two small fans that are in the room are sad. We aren't able to open the window to let air in because a bar across the street has a live band playing. It's 10:30 pm and we are currently sweating in our room.

Great historic place, it ain't a Hilton or Hyatt but that's the charm of this hotel, old fashioned from a bygone time, would stay here again

No bathrooms in the room. Train came by at 5 am every morning. The one bright spot was that it was close to the ski mountain.

Check inn was easy, Julianna (hope I spelled correctly) and her staff were amazing and very accommodating. Friendly service with a smile and made sure if we were not warm enough they had portable room heaters for us. Gave us info about the local ski resorts and conditions as well as a glass of vino and yummy cookies. We'll recommend this to friends and family and will definitely stay here again once soon.

What a POSITIVE experience! We booked a room to get away for the weekend with the family. We enjoyed a hike in the Truckee Tunnels and booked a room at The Truckee Hotel to cap off the day. Julianne checked us in, gave more love with space then we expected. So gracious of her to do that without being asked! The kids were more than thankful!

We enjoyed the evening on the deck watching all of the people coming and going, so awesome! We later ordered some small bites from downstairs and ate on the deck while enjoying some wine!

We left early the morning to get to a beach in Tahoe. A few hours later

We were stranded here on 3/14/20 due to a snow storm the highways were shut down, I also started to have mechanical problems with my vehicle shutting off me the wife two children. When we found the hotel Jenal the front desk was great hospitable, inviting very nice. We stayed 2 nights everyone after Jenal was rude, unprofessional and didn't know what they were doing. The front desk lady on Sunday morning told us and other guest they weren't renting rooms anymore but current guests can stay if emergency. She was talking about us and other guest on speaker phone to the owner moving from

We stayed here over Christmas break and we loved it! A family of 5 and we stayed in one of the rooms. It does get loud at night because of the train, but after reading reviews I anticipated that. They also provide ear plugs! The bathroom is a communal bathroom, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised on how clean it was! The main complain I do have that the rooms do get very dry at night. I want to really give advice to The Truckee Hotel to perhaps provide humidifiers during the winter. The breakfast is pretty basic but honestly for the price we paid, it was perfect! It's located in a cute

Wow. We had a rough time checking in. I think they had a busy weekend and were quite curt. However, we smoothed it out and had a great "fix it" experience while enjoying some cocktails and apps...Check out my review on the restaurant downstairs (Moody's). The room was lovely (king, private bath) and after sitting in the claw foot tub and fantasizing about how many people must have stayed in the room in the 100+ years they've been Truckee Hotel, I chilled on the perfectly comfy bed and just hung out with my people. Close quarters but it was a good thing.

Because we have a service dog, we were discouraged from staying, so we were unable to make our trip. We always attempt to leave town on the anniversary of our son's death and made a reservation to stay in this Hotel for that reason. I will say the management was polite, almost accommodating, in their suggestion that we try staying elsewhere. They even suggested places to call. Of course, by then, there was nowhere else open, so we ended up not going anywhere. Needless to say, today hasn't been my very best day. Which is too bad- because of my deafness, I wouldn't have had a problem

The hotel was lovely, not sure why it only has 3 stars. The room was clean and comfortable. It was super cute and the staff was very nice.

The only thing is, like other reviewers said, the music can be loud and goes to 11:30 at night. We were there on a Saturday so we expected it. Our room was in the back so we could barely hear it. We also considered going down to Moody's to join in on the fun but decided against it.

All in all, we had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the truckee hotel. The location is amazing and everything downtown is within walking distance. Darrell was so welcoming to us and even upgraded us without us asking. The room was cute and comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good as well and included. We will definitely stay here again!

Pros: great location downtown, comfy beds, historical hotel

My husband and I stay here a number of nights a year and are generally happy with the set up, affordable rooms, and staff.

This visit we went for one of the nicer/larger rooms, and while the room is cute, we have been generally disappointed -- as one example, we returned after leaving at 9am to find the room not cleaned (for us, really what would just be a made bed and perhaps some new towels after 3 days here). When I inquired I learned you have to request if you want your room cleaned which seems like more of a hostel policy and

Darrell is the most helpful and kindest person I've ever dealt with at a hotel. He left cookies out because he knew it was my birthday, helped us with ice for our cooler, gave us great recommendations for restaurants/bars in town and just provided overall amazing customer service. I loved the hotel, the restaurant inside and the service - would definitely come back!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Road construction all night long right next to the hotel. They are repaving the road starting at 4 am so don't plan on sleeping past that. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at without question.

Having shared bathrooms was very different, but got used to it quickly, there are more than enough on each floor to never need to wait to do anything...loved the staff and the overall feel of this Hotel was Fantastic. Wasn't sure how the Wife would react to the set-up, but she Loved every aspect of the Truckee Hotel (except the steep stairs going to the third floor...LMAO)

Enjoyed the fact that there was no TV, phone, microwave, mini-fridge or even an alarm clock for that matter in our European Queen room

Would recommend this style of hotel to everyone to try...after all this is how things

TL;DR: Super cute, super clean, super friendly; couldn't hear Bar of American across the street.

Had an AMAZING experience here a few weekends ago. Spur of the moment Tahoe trip left me looking for quick lodging without breaking the bank. Found Truckee Hotel on the Truckee travel website and was intrigued by it's oldschool aesthetic. Came to Yelp to see what people were saying, as the "European style" rooms had be skeptical, and the low rates were almost too good to be true. Well, the pessimist that I am, always reads the one- and two-star reviews to see WHY people were

Wonderful people in a antique hotel. European rooms (all they had last week) have bathrooms down the hall. Not bad, just not convenient. I will stay here next time but make reservations soon enough to get an American room/bath.

1. Webcam so your friends can watch you doing your best James Dean under the sign at the gas station across the street in real time.
2. 59 clams for a room.
3. Trains trains and more trains all night long to inhabit your sleep and make your dreams of Carnagie and Ayn Rand.
4. A bar on the first floor with conversations of the fair and circuses. Very tasty vittles too.
5. Remodel coming!
