Services
The Charlie, previously known as The Farm was built in 1924 by Elizabeth Gordon and later purchased and redeveloped by Charlie Chaplin. Each suite is named after a celebrity who once resided inside. After Charlie Chaplin sold the property in the late 1940s it began to fall into a state of disrepair.
When requesting a specific room within a category, we are happy to hear your preferences and do our best to accommodate the request. If you know you are arriving after office hours, please call or email 24-48 hours ahead of arrival for further instructions. Don't worry, we would never leave you stranded.
Our Charlie tablets are available to explore and help with service requests. Amenities such as ordering: games, room massages, tour tickets and maps of local area all at your finger tips. When requesting a specific room within a category, we are happy to hear your preference and do our best to accommodate the request.
The Steve is our queen studio with a private garden patio. The Steve is a ground floor unit with a private garden patio. Stained glass windows wrap around the entire unit which all open for a nice breeze on summer nights. Don't miss the chance to soak in the morning sun on your private outdoor patio.
The Betty and Sasha's California King beds are made with luxury comforters and oversized down pillows. Nothing is more important than the comfort of your sleep. Betty and Sasha suites additionally feature separate spacious seating/dining areas and desk workspaces, loved by readers because of its, bright and quiet location.

Like many other poor reviews, it is a lovely hotel, however, we cannot say as much about the owner/management and their extortion tactics.
My wife and I are in our 50's and stayed in The Clark, the largest 2 bedroom with our son, a physicist, and his girlfriend, a psychologist. We paid about $1,000 for the one night we were there. We went out to dinner at WeHo Bistro - a lovely restaurant - with longtime family friends of ours. We stayed in the Gregory suite and it was perfect for us and our son as we scouted out LA colleges for the week. Instead of being crammed inside one hotel room, we had 1 bedroom, 1 and 1/2 baths, a pull out couch in the living room for the teen, and a full kitchen. It was handy having a full-sized refrigerator and coffee pot! Wonderful hospitality and nice amenities. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Charlie is a fantastic LA experience!!! Somehow in the hustle and bustle of WeHo this truly magical gem exists! We stayed in Marilyn's cottage and just kept commenting about if these walls could talk the stories they'd tell! So much attention to detail and fantastic outdoor experiences throughout the property make you feel like you're in an English garden! The staff were all fantastic and attentive as well! A+ experience!

I am incredibly sad to write this review. The Charlie is like an enchanted fairy land but like many lands there is an ogre living there. During my extended stay there due to a flood in my home, I was subject to a barrage of verbal harassment and attacked by a permanent resident who accused me of "touching his car with my hand and leaving a mark on it". He even called the police to report it as a hit-and-run and when the officers came, they had to explain to him that it was not a hit-and-run because I neither hit his car nor ran away. This boutique hotel is a hidden gem in Los Angeles. You feel like you step back into an old Hollywood movie once you enter the gate. We stayed in "The Charlie" which was GORGEOUS! We had no clue this room also came with a washer/dryer in the room. We had an issue with our refrigerator a couple days into our week stay and the manager was extremely helpful since we had a lot of groceries. In the end, we wound up switching to "The Marlene" room since they were going to need to work on the refrigerator in "The Charlie" room. The manager was very accommodating and made

We scouted The Charlie months in advance before we booked. Loved the look and were excited to stay. When we booked the room Covid was in it's 2nd month so we got a huge discount. Interestingly Covid wasn't the problem when they took our money, but that's their excuse when they canceled months later. AND they canceled our booking less than a week before we departed. We eventually found out from staff the real reason was greed. Simple Greed. Our unheard of discount would cost them more for us to stay then to leave the room empty. We were the only room booked at The Charlie that night

I stayed at this hotel and although it's beautiful I would NEVER STAY here again! The owner it a total TRUMP supporter and wears his MAGA hat around the hotel like nothing. I can never support a business that does not see eye to eye with what is going on with the world. The owner which I believe lives next door is very rude! I am a person of color and when walking around the neighborhood the look he gave me and even ignoring my hello was a shock until he notice I was staying at the hotel then his attitude shifted.

I've been debating on whether or not to review this hotel as I like to provide my feedback but I'm also not a regular "over nighter" in the West Hollywood area. I usually vacation in Beach Towns like Santa Barbara and Laguna Beach which are comparatively quite different. We stayed here for 1 night as it was close to our restaurant destination for the evening... "Providence"!
Very Quaint and Quiet - Only a minute off the main streets and that minute takes you from the hustle and bustle of West Hollywood to a serene environment that you'll quite appreciate.

First time writing a review, found a gem in West Hollywood, will stay here again. After researching and seeing some costs on hotels in the West Hollywood area, I stumbled upon The Charlie Hotel in West Hollywood.
Spoke with Marina (manager) got a rate, booked it. Got an early check in no charge, free secured parking no charge, clean really cool rooms. Great location, around a $4 dollar lyft ride to Melrose and the shops, places to eat and bars. Thanks Marina, we will return.

The Marilyn cottage here is charming and cosy, and the location is great. Right in the middle of West Hollywood, and free parking (when booking through their website, at least when we stayed). It's close enough to plenty of restaurants for walking if you want, and easy access to this whole side of town. The only negative is very temporary - as of April 2019 there is construction next door made for some noise. But this was only during the daytime on weekdays. Evenings and the weekend days we stayed were very quiet.

This hotel is quaint and historic. It's like staying someplace secret that nobody knows about! The location is super convenient and in a safe neighborhood. The rooms are clean comfy and cool. They are all unique. The family that runs the hotel are really nice and accommodating!!!
The prices are competitive. In fact they are really good for what you get! The only thing that's a little bit of a downer is the parking situation. Just get there early and use Uber during your stay!

So I am writing this nearly 2 years after my visit.
This was one of the most amazing overnight stays I have ever had. History alone would have made it so but the rooms and ground are to die for. I stayed in the Betty and it was amazing. I walked into a spacious suite and made use of it all. The desk was up against the window where I opened the old windows to the garden and did my work to a cool CA breeze, relaxed on the comfy couch before turning in to the wonderful bed and bath area of the suite.
Parking was perfect and location was so nice being in a neighborhood.

It is unfortunate I have to write this review, an. I have stayed at this hotel on two different occasions. I stayed last year 2016-2017 on the day before new year's eve and new year's eve. This experience was amazing, the staff was great and we have no complaints. A year later we booked the hotel for my sister's 25th birthday. We booked the charlie hotel and upon arriving my mother fell down the stairs and injured her back and arm. There was a staff member who was inside the room and she did not even check to see if she was okay. Fast forward we had family and friends over for my

The Charlie Hotel, their owners and staff are absolutely amazing! I got married on October 14, 2017 and The Charlie was a big part of our very special day. We not only stayed at The Charlie but we got ready there and took our wedding photos there. We had a larger than normal wedding party and The Charlie helped make everything go flawlessly. The rooms and the entire property are absolutely amazing - stunning.

I'm hesitant to write a great review on Yelp, for fear many others will see and my returning will be more difficult.
The accommodations were ideal, the staff I'd compare to Navy Seal lifeguards.
These experiences always take the two to tango, and I was stepping on feet left and right. They kept their chin up and feet nimble, and I'm not sure I'll ever stay anywhere else again in west hollywood.

Honestly, this is a great hotel. The staff are awesome, helpful, and very attentive. I don't think I have ever had such a great stay at a hotel where the staff are so on top of things. It was very clean, modern looking, well done. The beds were very comfortable, and everything was just great! I don't think I have one single complaint.
