In the summer of 1961, real estate developer George Rosenthal sat in the living room of Chicago's Playboy mansion with Hugh Hefner trying to decide whether or not they should take a $12 million loan from Jimmy Hoffa. On the upside, it was the amount of money Rosenthal needed to build a new Playboy Club and hotel in the heart of West Hollywood's legendary Sunset Strip.

A day of travel I wouldn't wish on a bad actor on the worst of days. I rolled into Sunset Marquis late and stumbled into my uxury west hollywood hotel suite minutes later. The day began with grand plans; Cavatina for dinner, Bar 1200 for some piano and bourbon, maybe a stroll up on Sunset Strip. Now the room service menu was calling my name.
Afternoon girls contemplate evening plans with tropical drinks as I pass the pool and a few of Joe Bonamassa's favorite guitars on display as I head to my room. Over the bridge, the koi fish eye me, eagerly awaiting a bite while diners never notice I exist as their bites consume them. The bar calls to me, an old friend beckons with a "cheers".

Well, let me start off by saying I've been a long time loyal customer of the SM. I love the hotel and felt at home there. The last time I was there however I was robbed by the staff. $1300 cash was taken from my bag. I noticed it at checkout when I went to pay.
It isn't a ton of money but it felt really violating from a place that I have spent so much time at and always sung praises about. It really was my home in LA. Ive spend many many weeks there.
I didn't write this review because I got robbed. I don't feel that the hotel deserves a bad rep over one rotten employee. I am

This is my home anytime I stay in la. I've been coming here for over a decade. It's close to little boys town-weHo-santa Monica so walking distance to dispensaries, famous eateries and chill vibes.
The hotel hosts a recording studio, two pools, a decadent restaurant that serves salted warm gooey chocolate chip cookies to your room!
Everyone is more than helpful. Jorge the valet always takes care of me and all my guests cars. And every single hostess at cavatina has helped take pics with perfect lighting.
This place is pricy but the service is unparalleled and the food is good.

Where do I even begin?! Shout out to Svetlana! I had my BEAUTIFUL wedding there last weekend, and it was a 10/10! From the very first day we came to tour the property, Svetlana made us feel so comfortable and made the whole process SO EASY. Her team is amazing: shout out to Mario and Frank and everyone else!!!
SM treated us like royalty! When we came for the food tasting, we had the whole red carpet rolled out for us...and it was amazing. THE FOOD IS RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS. If you haven't gone to CAVATINA- you are missing out. (plus it's GORGEOUS). Okay, back to the wedding..

This is by far my favorite hotel to stay at when visiting Los Angeles. It's easy to get to you, it's close to everything that we want, and the service is always amazing.
We checked in after a long day of flight delays and had missed room service by a couple minutes. The sweet girl at the front desk made sure we were taken care of and called in a favor to the kitchen. I can't tell you how much we appreciated that!

Everything about this place is excellent. Checking in was quick and easy. Our villa was basically an apartment and it was so beautifully furnished.
Room service was quick and easy, and we dined in the restaurant a few times and also had the best experience there. The lemon soufflé was so good that we had it twice.
Our first stay here was for my birthday last month. We loved it so much that we immediately booked another stay and went back a few weeks later. The employees really make an effort to get to know you, they remember you, and everyone is so nice and helpful.
I really felt like housekeeping

This place itself is a legend! From the front entrance where slash posed in front at to the room, where many jamming sessions happened. We stayed for a night here and we loved it. They have two different pools (one for all guests and one for the villa guests). The staff here are so professional and friendly; especially I want to shout out to one gentleman; who helped us to deliver bags to our room (he had glasses on and he told us he plays guitar occasionally). He was so sweet and awesome. He told us where to take some Instagram worthy photos and gave my kid some coloring books and crayons. The

Bring your loved one or just yourself to the classic and another oasis in the city - a chill hotel with classic Hollywood artistic notes (and recordings) from a solid greeting staff to wonderful interior view rooms and poolside rooms for that 3 day or week getaway. The beautiful palm tree atrium-style outdoor setting for their on-sight restaurant takes care of a stay-in meal or two if you need a little break from the busier Sunset scene for some privacy. Will return soon !

Had dinner here with family while visting LA. Truly spectacular food! I absolutely loved my Ora King Salmon dish with veggies on the side. It was cooked well done, just how I like it. I love salmon, it is one of my favorite fishes along with sea bass. The fish was succulent and cooked amazingly well. The veggies were chosen with care and complemented the flavor of the fish really well. I especially loved the roasted pearl onions - super flavorful! Great dish. I tried the veggie burger and sadly, I didn't like it

This old heart has been stomping ground of many a famous musician - a recording studio on the ground level pretty much everyone who's anyone has graced the threshold of this hidden little boutique hotel if only those walls could talk I'm sure they'd be able to speak volumes.
The parking is ridiculous and the parking attendant or hit and miss you never know what you're going to get if you're going to bring a nice car be sure to pack an extra 20 or 40 bucks for the guy so that way you can at least know your car is in front...
There's a lot of golddiggers smooches smooches

I stayed here recently. Smoking is allowed all around the property. They say it's not but I walked by many people at the front main pool smoking and another guy smoking a cigar near the villas- and of course there is barely a time you walk through the property without smelling pot. Just cause it's legal shouldn't mean you have to smell it ALL the time. I thought LA was supposed to be cigarette intolerant. YUCK!
The room smells like old smoke and the couch has burn holes in the fabric. The bathroom has ants and the walls are streaked from too much moisture and I guess nobody wipes

This review is only for the front bar (Former Whisky Bar)
Stopped in for the first time and met Max who made an amazing old fashioned. There was also a cool bartender with a fun hat. (Did not get her name). The vibe went from cool and mellow to cool and crowded after a bit.
The music was superb! I talked to manager Terry who said he plays whatever pops into his head, It works, the place was rocking with music that was eclectic and not obvious. Lights came up around 1:30 (shocking for NYers) then a little Elvis and it was time to go home. excellent staff, seems like they were hosting their own party

This place is simply the best place to stay in LA. It is like an oasis in the middle of the busy city. private, quiet, entertaining. I would highly recommend it. And Bar 1200 is just a great atmosphere to hang out at night. Entertainment was great, and the bar manager Tony is just so great. oh and, whoever does their Audio Video must be great because it sounded spectacular!

Apparently, there is so much more to the place than I knew. There is a recording studio, or a few of them hidden away in the basement. When not in use, guests are allowed to roam in them, experience what it would be like to stand behind a microphone.
If one may savor the pleasures and endure the difficulties it brings, then there will be stunning scenery, winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting when weary.
Which reminded me of a song from a few years ago by Megan Trainor and John Legend,
"I am gonna love you, like I am gonna lose you.
I am gonna hold you, like I am saying goodbye

Fresh & Kombucha had a join event here. I'm a huge huge fan of Fresh ever since I visited their first shop opened in Boston on Newbury street some many years ago ( when I was just a baby...haha). After my first try of their products, I just love them, and have used them ever since. Fresh is my absolute favorite. Thanks to the Century City store in the mall being so close!! From a little boutique to now a major global brand, Fresh is definitely one of the most successful story in the business!!
Now back to Sunset Marquee. It's tucked in a very quiet and tranquil location right
