Just had my first online yin yoga class with instructor Kusum. I was wondering how the Covid19 virus would affect studios like Unfold. The wonderful group of teachers have adapted quickly, and the online classes are small, thoughtfully led, and easy to follow. Unfold gas always been a wonderful place to go for classes, and, under present circumstances, they've been doing a wonderful job supporting students w body based care.

The instructors at Unfold have been very focused on helping each individual get what they need in every class I've taken. They have been very supportive in suggesting alternative poses when the one first offered isn't working for me. And the breath work and gently being reminded to stay in the moment has really helped me when life has thrown me some difficult moments.

Just moved to S.E & am looking for a new studio. Took a lovely gentle yoga class with Carol. Just what I needed to replenish myself this am. The studio receptionist was lovely & very welcoming. Beautiful studio with lots of natural light! Look forward to checking out other classes here. The intro special is a great way to explore all their wonderful staff.

I LOVE Unfold! I've never felt so welcome and supported as I have here. All the instructors I've met have been friendly, helpful, and truly caring. In classes, I never feel pushed beyond my limits and I always get as much challenge and stimulation as I need. I'm so happy to have found such a special place - thank you :)

I was visiting Portland for 3 weeks and wanted to continue my yoga practice. I found Unfold to be a welcoming studio with amazing teachers. I was really pleased to see that the teachers met each student at their level and encourage then to listen to their body. I would recommend Unfold to any yoga student, beginner, intermediate, advanced and especially those with physical constraints.

Uniquely powerful yoga experience!
I've done yoga over the years, but the focus of Unfold Studios and quality of their staff is life altering.
I consistently get a deeper, exponentially more dynamic understanding of myself, my environment and the long view of yoga in the world.
Thank you Unfold folks!

The most welcoming yoga studio I have been to. I loved everything about my first class, from the short "topic of the month" discussion at the beginning to the loving kindness meditation at the end. EB was an incredible instructor. I plan to make Unfold my new home studio now that I am back in Portland!

I'm in love with Unfold Yoga because of the quality of their classes and instructors. It's nice to feel so welcome and no judgements. I especially love how open the community is to people of all abilities. I just finished a 6-week class for people recovering from brain injuries ( Love Your Brain) and I got so much from it. I know that since I've been going to Unfold my balance has improved greatly, and I'm a lot more comfortable with my chronic pain. Try their introductory offer and you won't be s

I am so glad to have found Unfold! I felt so welcomed there. The instructor was very helpful and she didn't make me feel " less than" when I needed extra guidance. One thing I really love is that there are all types of people in the class --- a range of body types and abilities. I myself have a service dog and she was welcomed as well and the instructor helped me by putting a chair next to my mat so I could tether her to it. It was really helpful to be able to reach over and pet her during the session. At the end of the class the instructor read one of my favorite Mary Oliver poems

Sometimes, you don't know what you need until you experience it.
This was the case in the Gentle Yoga class taught by EB, one of the co-owners, where all parts of me felt welcomed: physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually.
Truly a change from any class I've ever been in -- in part because as I looked around the room, there was a wide range in who was there: in size, ability, and age. They write that they embrace diversity, and they do! I love that!

I have been coming to this studio since June 2014. I typically attend the Yoga for Larger Bodies taught by Karen. She is an excellent instructor and adapts her classes to all body types and abilities. I appreciate her willingness to modify poses for both floor and chair work.
I also appreciate the openness of the studio to all body types. The pictures in the lobby have people of different backgrounds and sizes which instantly makes you feel welcome.
The parking is a huge plus in this area.

Unfold says that they are 'unconditionally welcoming'....and my experience there is that they truly are. I appreciate so much being greeted when I come to the studio and that the teachers use my name in class- even when I'm new to them. I appreciate having the dharma talks at the beginning of class. Practicing yoga at unfold feels like yoga in the best sense. I'm grateful to be part of the community.

Unfold Studios is an incredible place. If you are interested in Spirituality and gentle yoga then this is the place to be. The instructors are welcoming to everyone... regardless of outer appearances. Everyone feels valued and safe to be their authentic selves. Its perfectly okay to do only what feels right for you to do at any given time in the yoga classes here. Best studio ever!

I just love Unfold. Come as you are, there's no pressure to be anything or anyone you aren't. The best you can offer is your authentic self. I always feel safe and welcome here and am thrilled to have found this special place right in my neighborhood! No mirrors, no weird windows where you are on display, the cork flooring, natural light and wooden walls are all perfect.

Updated review: I have been back for two meditation classes. I was excited to see that they are offered at 8:00am as most morning meditations in Portland are much earlier - too early for this night owl! They are also on a donation only basis which is consistent with Buddhist philosophy. I often scoff at meditation class series costing $300 or $400. Meditation should be free/ open to all. This studio embodies their "unconditionally welcoming" mantra by making this class accessible to all. While Im not as much of a fan of the "facing away from each other/ facing the wall" style

Unfold Studios is a beautiful space to unwind and practice. I have been fortunate enough to attend a Yin Class with Leigh and it was a blissful hour and a half of deep stretching and inner meditation.
Although the studio is on the busy part of Division, they manage to help in taking you to a world away. The studio faces away from the street and the only windows are a ceiling height with views of the trees swaying in the gentle breeze.
The class and teacher were very down-to-earth and made you feel completely comfortable no matter your level/size/body type.
I will definitely be back as this

Finally an inclusive yoga studio. This is a place that unashamedly embraces and accommodates people like me, who are size 12 and not size two. Real yoga for actual human beings, some of whom are thin white girls, but not all.
From the moment I entered the bamboo walled studio I felt safe and yummy. I Noted the soothing piano arpeggios, and sat on the free, comfortable yoga mats.
There were props a go go to sit on, including blankets, blocks, wedge shaped blocks, bolsters both round and rectangular, and best of all: Eye pillows and sand weights for your ankles or abdomen. This is real restorative

I know three of the teachers at Unfold and they each have very deep expertise.. They are all committed to being "unconditionally welcoming." which is important to me as an older woman with a large, out-of-shape body. EB and many of the practioners are trained in yoga therapy which requires extensive training beyond being a trained yoga teachers.
