Living Yoga
Living Yoga provides trauma-informed services and resiliency training in order to ensure all individuals have the tools to heal from the impacts of trauma, prevent re-traumatization, and realize their full potential.

We do this by training volunteers to provide trauma-informed yoga classes in prisons and reentry, substance use disorder treatment and recovery, and community health programs; and by training community members and care providers to recognize and respond to symptoms of trauma. We know that stress and trauma live physiologically in the body, and that mind-body practices can help to alleviate their negative impacts.
Services
Within each of us is the capacity for good, and when our goodness is reflected back to us, we thrive. Trauma is any event that overwhelms a person, physically or emotionally, and the imprint that the event leaves on the person's mind, body, and being. Those impacted by trauma do not feel safe in their bodies, leading them to disconnect from their physical and emotional feelings.
Since 1998, Living Yoga has provided trauma-informed yoga classes for youth and adults in prison and reentry, substance use disorder treatment and recovery, and community health settings. At this time, we provide weekly, online, trauma-informed yoga classes in collaboration with the following service sites:.
At Living Yoga, we strive for transparency and honesty in all of our communications with donors, institutions, staff, volunteers, and students, including information about how our organization is funded and how those funds are used. Living Yoga's Annual Benefit and our Spring Yogathon, are our two biggest fundraising events of year.
The following equity statement and organizational commitments have been developed by Living Yoga's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Team, which is made up of representatives of Living Yoga's staff, board, volunteer teachers, and students. We anticipate this statement evolving as we advance our understanding, and encourage feedback from our community.
We are excited to be returning to in-person classes and are actively recruiting volunteers! If you are interested in volunteer teaching with Living Yoga, please review our volunteer requirements here. Teaching yoga at Living Yoga sites is challenging, rewarding, and demands a high level of commitment, consistency, and compassion for others.
