Services
In 1990, Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy opened, providing quality Martial Arts instruction to the Sykesville Maryland area. Tae Kwon Do Academy served the Sykesville area for 29 years. During its service, a small tight-knit community was forged. We lovingly called this community our "Tae Kwon Do Family".
We offer adult classes that incorporate our traditional Tae Kwon Do training with a strong and intensive fitness program. These 50 minute classes provide a workout with purpose. Our instructors will help guide you toward your goals while keeping you engaged and improving your health. Come experience a different kind of Kickboxing class. Our fun and supportive Kickboxing environment provides individualized attention that helps make you comfortable and supports you in reaching your personal goals. Train at your own pace without any pressure or intimidation. Our Kickboxing program provides a fun, supportive, and motivational environment.
Learn the ancient way of the Korean Sword through the United World Haedong Kumdo Federation. Complete with uniform, sword, sword case and an entirely new system of belts designed for Haedong Kumdo. We're so confident our program will meet your needs, that we're inviting you to try us out for 4 weeks free.
Our classes are FUN, but they are also very structured. By providing this mixture of structured fun, kids on up to adult can focus and learn key skills without even realizing it. Sometimes the best defense is diffusing the situation. While promote non-violent resolutions to conflict, we also work to help students build muscle-memory, and teach practical self-defense skills for reacting when necessary in last-resort situations.

Sykesville Tae Kwon Do has been wonderful for my 3 kids. They are professional, always positive with the kids, teach kindness and responsibility, extremely helpful in teaching the kids and ensuring they have a fun time learning. Any time we have a question, they are quick to respond and ensures we understand. I never thought my kids would like Tae Kwon Do but that is all they talk about and look forward to learning each day!

We've been thrilled with our experience at Sykesville Family Tae Kwon Do! Our three children, daughters age 8 and 5, and our son age 7 have been training there for several months. Mr. Tae, Mr. Tim, and Ms. Hanna are very patient and welcoming to all kids, creating a fun, comfortable atmosphere. Our kids have learned and developed so much in terms of agility, self-defense, self-discipline and confidence. I'm so glad we found the program!

Our three children are getting an outstanding Taekwondo education at SFTKD. All of the instructors are great, and the classes differentiated and fun for every age group and skill level. So many of the teachings have bolstered our kids’ sense of confidence. Mr. Tae and Mr. Tim are professional, responsive and compassionate to the needs of the community. We highly recommend SFTKD for everyone in and around Sykesville!

Sykesville Family Tae Kwon Do is absolutely amazing! I currently participate in a Kickboxing class and they are nothing but kind, encouraging, and patient! I have never been apart of a gym community or anything like this before and they have given me the best experience! I’m very happy with the program, and also the business is very clean and have a good system implemented to keep the place sanitized and safe! I would highly recommend this business to anyone that’s interested, you can’t go wrong by being apart of anything that they have to offer!

My 6 year old son has been attending Sykesville Family Tae Kwon Do for over a year. It is amazing the improvement in his patience and focus. He's an energetic boy and when he started he had a lot of trouble standing still and listening. Now he stands and sits 'like a leader' and really tries to follow the instruction and learn. It is also great exercise for him, he is getting pretty good at all his kicks. He still loves going as much as when he first started. They are great people and really care about the students. I highly recommend.

Sykesville Family Tae Kwon Do is truly a family. The instructors are exceptionally patient, kind, positive, and generous. They work together to make classes fun and exciting for the kids, while still imparting fundamental life skills. Our son has learned so much since joining and we couldn't be happier with our experience.

A wonderful group of instructors. My son has been working with some of the instructors and students for about seven years. He went all the way from the dragons program to being a black belt, and is still attending classes. Everyone is very friendly and they really. Are about every individual they are instructing. We have to drive much farther than when we started out, but it has been well worth it. They are like family.
