The word that comes to mind is "flabby".
There was nothing wrong with the service (although others around us kept receiving apologies for late delivery of drinks and food), and the menu is interesting enough. Prices are high -- but we're in Glencoe, so of course they are. But my carbonara made me sad. It was "Homemade Fettuccine | Crispy Bacon | Egg yolk". All those ingredients were there. But it was a soup bowl filled with a small amount of fettuccine drowning in a lake of cream it had only met a minute or two earlier. Crispy bacon bits were scattered on top, and the egg yolk crowned the lot

I am shocked by how bad this experience was. I have been wanting to go there for two years as I keep seeing the stuff they post on social media. I went there finally last week and literally could not even snack on the food. The moules smell sooo bad that it is still stuck in my nose. Ate only one and almost threw up. They also were cold. The Ceasar salad is a pile of uneadable shopped white cabbage. Extremely disappointed. On top of that food is expensive and service is slow even With rush hour.

We went to Valor this past Saturday and everything was top notch including the service. We ordered the steak frites, salmon and green beans. The salmon was cooked perfectly, crispy and caramelized on the outside and tender on the inside. The green beans were so flavorful and had a kick to them - the perfect side dish! The steak was juicy and prepared exactly to my standards - also couldn't get enough of the truffle sauce. Will be visiting again soon!

I came here with my family for the first time and had a great experience. welcoming atmosphere, great food, and the best service. My family and I will be coming back next time we are in Chicago. I felt welcomed and loved the restaurant's atmosphere. Not to mention how delicious everything was. All the food that we ordered was just perfect, from presentation to taste. We dined on a weekday so maybe that accounts for the few other diners; the menu was limited and the French steak was off menu. The Octopus appetizer was okay but not memorable; the scallop entree was very tasty but featured only 3 scallops. My burger which I ordered medium rare was closer to medium well done but had good flavor; all in all a mixed bag but not a write off.

This was probably one of the worst dining experience we have had in the last year. Sat at a wobbly table that never did get resolved. You could have moved up to one of the other 20
Empty tables! Service was extremely slow with a very empty restaurant. The mussels were nasty to put is kindly. Adding canned mussels will never make a fresh mussels dish better. Not to mention over priced for the quality. We have no problem paying for a good meal but 150$ for 2 appetizers a vegetarian entree and 2 drinks? We will stay committed to the place access the street.

I don't usually post poor reviews. But had a reservation showed up to an empty place, waited to sit which is not a big deal. Once we sat took a long time for menu, once we got our menu ordered . Burger was small and burnt. Service was so bad , wanted to send it back but no one ever came back. Very sad . Definitely not retuning ...

I had a reservation last Saturday at 730. I was promised a booth. I arrived at 7:25 to witness a party being seated in one Booth and the other booth had people just ordering dinner . The place was packed with no open tables. The host checked his computer and said "I see you reserved a booth, we can put you in a table in the center of the room in 25 min if you wait. How can I make it up to you". You promised social distance and the place was packed, you gave away my reservation. You can not make it up to me. This place is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to this restaurant. Whenever I feel like having a decent meal, this place comes straightaway to my mind. very good and varied food and a rich menu.helpful crew, and pleasant spirit. And very important, the bill is affordable. I tell about this spot with no hesitation.

I come to this special restaurant often since I like the good air that is unique to this restaurant. The crew is extremely loving and well trained. The service is pretty quick. Needless to say, the food they cook is first-rate. I frequent more than once and I was always pleased. The cost is reasobable. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

It was truly refreshing to eat outdoors during this pandemic. The staffAnd mixologist were amazing and and great suggestions for drinks and the menu. The tempura cauliflower was off the hook, This is a definite must when you come to Valor. The outdoor space was perfect and I didn't feel unsafe by being close to other patrons. I definitely look forward to coming back to this restaurant and try other things.

Randomly walked in one day and now can’t get enough! Mike and Luis go above and beyond for every customer that walks in. Haven’t experienced such great service in a while. Food and drinks are outstanding as well! We recommend this place to all of our friends and family! You have to try the popcorn cauliflower, it’s so unique I haven’t tried that anywhere.

It's further from where I live, but totally worth it! We ordered a bunch of items on their menu and I have to say that all of them were amazing! Outstanding intimate American restaurant that serves delicious food in a relaxed setting. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely get in there. The online reservation was a little awkward asking for a credit card and all, and I think there were two separate phone calls confirming our reservation. That fussiness aside, Valor deserves a visit.

Came here for lunch and it was ok. The restaurant wasn't too busy which was nice, but the food was just ok. The cheeseburger and fries were good though. The Brussels sprouts Caesar with chicken was just ok. It was unfortunate that they didn't serve the tuna tartare for lunch.

This popular cafe serves good food with a bit of a French influence to some dishes.
We started with four appetizers. The one we absolutely loved was the Sticky Asian Pork Ribs, which were coated in a wonderful soy-infused teriyaki sauce. Popcorn Cauliflower was also very good, especially dipped in the leftover rib sauce! Warm Brussels Sprout Caesar and Roasted Broccoli and Grilled (cold) Shrimp were both just okay.
Everyone also liked their entrees, which included the Steak Frites, Salmon, and a Cheeseburger.

Hubby and I went back for an early dinner at the bar. Once again it was a great experience. I increased my rating by one star, but would like to make the point that the place is still noisy and difficult to talk with more than 2 people. Since it was just me and "hubs", we heard each other just fine at the bar....
Our drinks were great. Matt and Tristen, the bartenders, made excellent drinks. Hubby had a gin martini, which he gave a "thumbs up". I had their special daiquiri on the menu. It was just tart enough. Very good!

Hubby and I had a great pre-theater here. I had read some mixed reviews so I was a bit skeptical going in. I am really glad that we gave it a go.
We had a really lovely server. Everything was delivered at a good pace. Not so fast that you felt rushed but no long leisurely gaps either. We loved the relaxed attitude paired with the sophisticated food.
