Reiki is a Japanese healing technique, that moves life force energy through the physical, mental, and emotional body, to help activate the natural healing processes. Hi! I'm Katie, owner of Coconut Yoga. My journey with yoga started in 2005 in Chicago, a city I had grown to love after moving here in 2000 and a city I later learned is one of the most vibrant, well-educated yoga communities in the world.
Previously a trained classical ballet dancer, training first in my hometown ballet studio in Brighton, Michigan and then broadening into pre-professional training programs and performing with the Milwaukee Ballet Company, I formed an early, undeniable love of movement and expression through dance and music. As I learned my way into all that is yoga, I found a new, unexpected love for a practice which transcends the physical movement.

Yoga became a regular part of Kelly's life in 2010 while searching for a way to balance the physical toll of long distance running on her body and the mental toll of a stressful job on her mind. It didn't take long for her to fall in love with the quiet energy and sense of community she found in yoga studios across the city (and the strength and flexibility a regular practice built in her body!).
We recommend starting with any of the following classes: Spa Yoga, Blisstorative, and Flow Slow. All of these classes will move at a slower pace making it easier to follow. However that said, you are welcome at all of the Coconut Yoga classes! We are happy to answer your questions if you are unsure.

Such a great experience. Writing a review late but I was starting to become a regular before COVID hit. I love love love the instructors. Always the perfect amount of helpful. They make you feel so safe in the space, which happens to be gorgeous! Also love the music and that they have the best yoga mats ever to use while you’re there - grippy even when your palms and feet get sweaty. Looking forward to reopening hopefully soon but they have online classes for now as well!

Best. Yoga Studio. Ever. The teaching is the most personal, responsive, detailed, and rightly challenging I've ever experienced. Super welcoming and warm community. I've never paid for a monthly yoga membership until I found Coconut. Here, I feel like I'm getting every penny's worth. The teachers balance the physical and mental/spiritual components of yoga beautifully. So thankful for Coconut!
