Nava Yoga Center
In yogic philosophy, the boat is the vessel that carries you from darkness to light. Today, we might experience that darkness as physical pain, stress, anxiety, or disconnection. Our primary aim is to help you find the tools to move toward a brighter state of being. Like Nava Yoga Center, the quintessential core-strengthening pose is named for the boat: navasana.

We are proud to partner with The Vincera Institute, a world leader in core muscle health and one of the only medical centers in the world that includes yoga therapy as part of a holistic approach to healing and injury prevention.
Services
Our innovative yoga therapy program was developed by Biz Magarity as part of a holistic approach to healing for core muscle and hip injuries. Alongside the clinicians at The Vincera Institute, our team of yoga therapists has helped thousands of people, from world class athletes to those sidelined by an accident or work-related injury.
We are active members of our Philadelphia philanthropic community. We are currently part of the Back On My Feet organization's Virtual Fitness Challenge. Philadelphia's Navy Yard is a truly unique setting, offering plentiful green spaces that serve as a refuge from everyday urban living and working.

Writing my first Yelp review in honor of this amazing yoga studio and it's amazing owner/teacher Biz. I have had MANY injuries over the past few years. Needless to say, my capability is not where I want it to be. However, Biz and Nava Yoga have given me hope and showed me that with persistence I can get back to where I was. Biz is a fantastic instructor who takes the time to really explain to you what you should be doing and what muscle groups you should be feeling. I'm hooked and never leaving.

Also, I highly recommend the beginners series and the monthly Yoga/Massage workshops

I have taken from Biz each time I've visited in one on one sessions with my wife and in groups. Her attitude and approach makes all the difference. She is very insightful and observant. I've been a patient at Vincera institute recovering from groin and hip surgery since Nov 2014 . My experience with Biz was very nurturing and educational. She seemed to know where to make the largest gains in my recovery when I was ready for them. Of course I saw her 4 months post op following two extensive surgeries . After seeing her on several visits I felt like she was the missing piece in my

The teachers. Experienced and excellent.
BEEEEAUUUtiful space.
Location seems remote but it's very easy to access and it's a very cool area to see ... lots of history there
Top quality mats available for those who forget theirs!
Shower facilities! what a treat!!
Nice hand towels for us who sweat a lot.
Everything is new, fresh, and clean and yet it's loaded with character because of the building and the design of the space
I love it. And I'm not just biased ... it's lovely :)

Nava has a very friendly staff with a nice studio, easy to find in the navy yard with accessible parking which is great for any fitness studio in the city. The times of classes are not great, but it seems like it is catered to the people who work in the navy yard. The all flow class itself is decent, but what makes Nava stand out is their yoga wall classes which only happen twice a month and the schedule changes each month. These classes are unique to anything I've ever done and really help with my back and hips. They can be intimidating at first but the instructor is very good.

You know how you have those places where you're kind of like... "ehh I'll go tomorrow," but you never quite make it there? Not the case with Nava. I have had class cards at many a yoga studio around the city, and I have left all of them with 4+ classes on them. At Nava, I've gone through at least four 10-class cards. It probably helps that I work on base, but there is parking right in front for anyone who would drive onto base (quick note - no, you do not need to stop at the guard unless it is before 6am or after 6pm). The studio has quickly become a community where

I'm a devoted super-fan of Nava Yoga Center; I can't speak highly enough of the instructors, which for me, makes a studio. The space is also lovely and calming and i regularly take advantage of their convenient shower facilities and towel service.

Owners Kayla and Biz have created a warm and welcoming environment where i feel like i'm truly able to cultivate my practice; I find their approach to yoga engaging, challenging and thoughtful.

Such a great yoga studio! Down to earth teachers who really know their stuff. I'm not a fit flexible person and I am encouraged and challenged in a kind way.

*** This review is for their beginner's series ***

I've been a runner, on and off, for the last 18 years of my life. But as I get older, I find it tougher to jump in and out of that hobby. I wanted to find a new fitness activity that wasn't so tough on my knees (and my body overall) and would help to reduce stress, so I decided to try yoga.

I signed up for Nava Yoga Center's 8 week beginner's course. After 5 weeks, I am hooked! I already signed up for the next 8 week course... which is something I didn't think I would do. The location of the studio is convenient

I've been a regular at this fantastic yoga studio since it opened last summer. The space itself is warm, inviting, and conveniently situated right off 95. As somebody who doesn't work in or live near the Navy Yard, I still find it easy to get to and definitely worth the short drive.
The teachers are approachable and knowledgeable, and encourage playful yet careful practice. They consider the (sometimes many) injuries their students bring to class, and have even helped me to address specific injuries that I've endured in the past.

I can't say enough how about how lovely Nava Yoga Center is. There is a super welcoming atmosphere for all abilities levels. The owners, Biz and Kayla, are two of the most personable and genuine people I've practiced with. The flow and heated flow classes are both challenging yet accessible. I always feel better after class than when I came in! Yoga has become an integral part of my life, and Nava helps me continue to practice, grow, and challenge myself (both mentally and physically).
Added bonus-- there is always plenty of parking. No having to drive around looking for a spot :)

The Navy Yoga Center is a treasure. With the explosion of Yoga culture in the past few years the number of studios offering something more than body weight exercises grows slim. Yoga is more than the sum of its poses. The owners, Kayla and Biz, intuitively grasp this. Their studio is authentic, professional, and warm as they are themselves.

I am in love with Nava Yoga Center...Despite all the reasons that it makes MY life much easier by being 5 minutes from my house AND having plenty of parking, there are lots of other reasons to love it.

The instructors are great i have practiced with many of them before. There are also new ones that i practiced with for the first time and i loved their style...The space is sooo calming and very clean...Again this could be just for me but the class times are PERFECT....My only complaint would be that there are no classes on the weekends and Friday classes are very limited....

Definitely check

I began my practice at Nava Yoga Center just two months ago and with the help of Kayla, Biz, and Stephanie I am hooked!!!
The instructors are amazing, the studio is brand new with access to showers & a sauna, there's even a great little coffee shop downstairs where you can grab breakfast after your morning class!

This place is a must if you work in the Navy Yard!
