Stay away, do not rent from these people.
The management are a bunch of scammers. They are going to show you the manager’s office, which is a very nicely rennovated apartment, they are going to tell you that the apartment that you are renting is even nicer, bigger and with newly rennovated kitchen and appliances. Whatever you do, do not submit the application and deposit before seeing the actual apartment. They will try to get you to sign the lease and submit the non refundable refurbishing fee, before seeing it. The management staffp are very rude and dishonest.

Don't rent here unless you want a legal headache. Though many people complained of a pest problem, my apartment was decent. Management is shady. I was billed for damages over a year after I vacated (unfairly, might I add). Learn from my experience if you rent here: Don't delete your inspection pictures, ever!! Get everything in writing, signed with a witness, or send via certified mail. Record a video of your move out inspection! They seem to bank on the length of time after moving out to trap you into this without proof.

I work with Complete Roof Systems in Dumont NJ. We are contracted to do all the service, repair, and maintenance work here. I work closely with Joe Abadir, Richard Estrada, and Jim Cornwell. I can say that they do an exceptional job trying to keep this apartment complex very well maintained. If there is ever an issue I am called right away. They try to accommodate and take good care of the residents here. I’ve worked at some apartment and condo complexes where the property managers don’t care and let everything fall apart. I helped my grandparents choose this apartment when they moved up to New Jersey and we really have no complaints! The buildings are old but our apartment is cozy, with fresh would floors and a great A/C unit. The courtyard is always well maintained and the area is quiet and safe...the apartments are under new management and it seems to be working well

DO NOT RENT HERE! I would live in my car before I would ever rent from St.James Apartments or any property owned by VAP International ever again. If you're looking here because it's the cheapest apartment complex in the area, TRUST ME there is a reason why. The model apartment they show you is most likely not what you will get. Some apartments are updated like the model, most are not. Same price for the oldest, outdated apartments which is what we had. The cabinets were disgusting, falling off the hinges, the stove/oven was old and stained, the hardwood floors were sloppily covered with thick coats
