Services
Kolssak Funeral Home was founded in 1930 by Louis and Priscilla Kolssak I on the west side of the city of Chicago (4255 West Division Street). Louis and Carolyn Kolssak II moved the business to Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling, Illinois in 1973. Lou Kolssak II passed away in April of 2015. The funeral home has been entrusted to Jon Kolssak to carry on the family legacy.
I believe in people. I believe that every person is uniquely designed in God's image. I believe that God designed me to serve people by helping them to create a meaningful life celebration that reflects a life well lived. I was born in 1974 to my parents Lou and Carolyn Kolssak. I am the youngest of three boys.
Life Celebrations are so much more than just a funeral. We look at a person in whole and focus on his/her life. What are their passions, their beliefs, their likes, their dislikes and take all that information and create an experience that depicts a life well lived. We engage all senses. We want you to think of our facility not as a funeral home but a stage and we are going to share their legacy.

This is not our first time at Kolssack's for services. Not due to anything they did wrong, but I seriously hope we will not be paying any visits in the future. That said, Kolssack did a wonderful job of working with the family. From the set up of room, the photo displays and the arrangement of the remains of the loved ones, everything was on point. The staff was polite and professional and the overall atmosphere was one of calm, despite the occasion.

We received excellent help from the Kolssak team in planning and hosting a visitation for my brother. We are blessed to know that we honored our brother's life with a special celebration in a nice setting where friends and family could comfortably spend time together sharing experiences and remembering our loved one.

Appreciate the excellent service provided by Kolssak Funeral Home during the most difficult time in my life. Abby was very patient explaining the process with all the details. Whenever I contacted her she was always there responding quickly. During the funeral service, Jon created an atmosphere where sobbing turned into celebration.

Kolssak Funeral Home was the best choice we could have made. They came right over to the house when our mother passed away to lead us through the process. The planning meeting for the funeral was easy and comprehensive. The funeral home for the wake is beautiful, well appointed and has plenty of parking. And the final day of the funeral was well organized and the guys were very helpful. I highly recommend them.

Jon and his team provided a seamless experience, such amazing attention to detail and made us feel as comforted as possible in the planning of our father's celebration of life. They cremated my father without telling us he didn't have an autopsy. My 60 year old dad died suddenly and unexpectedly and we were told that he would most likely have an autopsy by Abby at the funeral home. We were told we could not have a viewing if he had an autopsy. After waiting to hear about his cause of death we were told he had been cremated and there hadn't been an autopsy. The cause of death was vague and not conclusive. When we spoke with Abby she admitted she should have called us to let us know so we could have done a private autopsy and also could have done a viewing

Went to Kolssack's to plan services for my husband. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They ask questions to actually try and get to know your loved one and made this difficult time such a smooth process. From the moment I walked in, it didnt feel like just a business. I walked in and instantly felt like family. They truly do care about your wishes and about doing the best job possible to honor your loved one. An amazing service during a difficult time! We used Kolssak recently after the sudden passing of my father. I really can't say enough good things about their handling of everything from the price, to the funeral details, to help with all the paperwork that needed sorting through. Corey was there every step of the way and was invaluable; even down to helping coordinate with the restaurant all the funeral guests were going to after the service. After having a bad experience at Glueckart home in arlington hts. I came here. I'm from out of town but used to live here. My wife and I want to be cremated and buried locally. Debbie Wendt meet with us answered patiently all our questions. She is extremely knowledgeable about the funeral business. She has the ability to make all arrangements. Obituaries cremation plot sales in numerous nearby cemeteries as well grave markers. Although we did not commit at this time. We will in the future after looking at cemeteries she is involved with. She was god send after our previous experience. Regards

This funeral home takes extra care to make people look like themselves and do NOT decide without asking to chop hair off or use no makeup. Their makeup is very complimentary with person's normal skin tone and personal amount of makeup use. They are never disrespectful or joke about clothing chosen. They don't cancel extras ordered when they don't think necessary. Husband's relatives have used since they opened in 30s, like family. I've had horrifying experiences with other place that is now out of business and can't find work. The other reviews sound like competition
