Purchased a very expensive watch from this business at the previous location in 2011. The watch came with a voucher for 3 free battery changes. When I presented the voucher for the third battery change, they refused to honor it, and charged me for the battery. Be careful where you buy expensive products!

I'm genuinely not a person to give a company a one star rating since i'm a small business owner myself, but with all humility and truthfulness I never in my life experienced this level of unprofessional-ism from a salesman in my life.
I simply browsed on the Smart Jewelers website to design an engagement ring and sent an email inquiring about the warranty, return, and service policies (information that was not readily available on their website). I was responded to rather swiftly by a gentlemen name Joel to contact him via phone to discuss my question.
The next day I was called and Joel responded

Joel was amazing in helping make the perfect ring for my fiancé. His customer service was top notch and he was helpful and informative throughout the process. I couldn't have been happier with the product as well and would recommend him over any of the stores downtown from both a value and service perspective. We will be back for any future purchases!

I recently celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary and though this is a great milestone to have my original engagement ring reset. I worked with Joel who was patient and very helpful and together we picked a very beautiful new ring. He was full of suggestions and totally thinks outside the box and we created a beautiful piece that I will love for the next 30 years. It was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend.

I was referred to Joel at Smart Jewelers by a friend. I was shopping for an engagement ring and had already met with a couple of other jewelers before meeting with Joel. The service I received at Smart Jewelers was appreciably better than that I received at other jewelers. I was also impressed with Joel's advice and recommendations. If I were writing a review solely based on the jewelry, I'd give them 5 stars. However, it's the people that work there that truly make the experience.
My mother and I have purchased a few things from this store and are definitely happy with our purchases. However, there is the rudest woman working there! There have been a few times where my mother has been looking at some jewelry and the woman has made snide remarks about how she can't afford them. She'll point her in the direction of cheaper jewelry and makes these faces where her eyes roll and she feels like she's wasting

I think these bad reviews are probably not telling the whole story because I can say with 100% assurance that Smart Jewelers is the best place to get beautiful jewelry in Chicago. My engagement ring, wedding band, and 1st anniversary earrings are all from here. They are totally gorgeous and I can't imagine getting a better quality diamond for a better price. I was refered to Smart Jewelers in 2005. We walked in and were greeted right away. The owner was walking passed and stopped to see if we had any questions. He also arranged for a sales person to assist us. We did buy a watch that day, and returned a few months later and purchased a second watch.
We have continued to do business with Smart because of the Great customer service. After reading a review about not getting great or nice service, I was shocked. They continue to offer great service when we have been in the store.

I'm shocked by the bad reviews as well. I received a Baume & Mercier watch for Christmas, and it needed a few links taken out. The sales lady, Fran was very friendly, w/o being pushy. When the watchmaster brought my Baume out to me, he even took the time to explain the watch, in detail, and educate me on things to preserve the quality. In addition, when the weather warms, and I need a link placed back in the band, Fran mentioned to bring it in for an adjustment at no charge.

I took my Cartier watch in for repair at Smart Jewelers. The woman behind the counter told me she would not repair my watch because it was a fake!!! I freaked out because it's a $4,000 watch. I then took my watch into Cartier for repair. Well i turns out the woman at Smart Jewelers was dead wrong. Smart Jewelers are dealers of Cartier watches they should know a real Cartier from a fake one. I will never step foot in that store again. Their staff has no knowledge of fine Jewelry

I have been to Smart on 3 occasions to get watches fixed and each time they were rude and patronizing. In my humble opinion every visitor to a store is a potential customer, which they dont share. The visit yesterday was to get links taken out of a swiss army watch, which they refused to do because they hadn't seen the style that I have and made me feel that it was not a legit model. I then went to Lincolnwood Town Center, walked into the first watch/jewelry store and they quickly removed the links with no attitude. I will never go back to Smart.

Two big thumbs down to Smart Jewelers. I went in a two different occasions, once browsing for a piece of jewelry for myself. The second time to get my watch battery changed. I was disappointed they couldn't re-pressurize my watch to remain water proofed. I expected a little more out of a neighborhood jeweler than I would for a department store. But more importantly, the customer service was really lacking. Both trips no one acknowledged me - not even a hello.
