If you don't like your Mexican food spicy, this is the place for you. If you want a lake view in an attractive building with a multilevel patio, they've got you covered. If you want a pleasant staff that checks on you, you're in the right place.

To die for. Even if you're inside, there are areas where the windows are all glass, so you can still see the water during the day. At night, you'll see twinkling lights around the lake. Gorgeous.
FOOD:
The CAMARONES AL MOJO DE AJO (translation: grilled shrimp with rice and veggies) was delicious. That creamy sauce did it. Shrimp wasn't dry and kudos for the appetizing presentation. Big menu. Lots of choices.
SERVICE:
We had a little snafu with the bills, but the manager gracefully took care of it without resistance, so I gave my server a 24% tip to let her know how

The place has great views of the lake especially if your seating near the lake. Good atmosphere. Had dinner with a few friends. Our server was awesome and friendly checked in on us throughout our stay. I don't think a tortilla soup should cost $15.00 thought I was ordering a cup/side of it but based on my bill it was more like an additional meal. Especially since the tacos I ordered were a couple bucks more than the soup. Like I said a tad bit more than I would spend for soup. Overall the service was great but the food was ok and a bit overpriced. In my personal opinion not sure if I would come

Been here many times and it's amazing every time! Views from every angle. All good and drinks and delicious no matter what you get. Recommend the Organic Guava margaritas and fish enchiladas!

Here for a visit with family and they like this restaurant - lovely view of the lake and we enjoyed the food very much. The margaritas were the best I've ever had - not too sweet, really well made! Our waitress was great - she was friendly, efficient, accommodated a couple of changes to what were ordering. Overall, nice afternoon at the lake with good food and fun!

We were a group of 15 with reservations. We all were directed to our area facing the beautiful lake. The staff was on point with all our orders and the service was fast and very friendly. My dinner was absolutely divine and there was plenty of it. The cheesecake was amazing. Light, fluffy and not heavy on a full tummy. Thank you Hacienda on the Lake for making a memorable time for us even better.

Well, first off let's just say the food, the ambiance, the wait staff, EVERYTHING was great. What really made the day though, was the surroundings, as I said, the complete ambiance. We had a table next to one of the doors, and with open doors surrounding the outer edge of of restaurant, you feel as though you're on the water. Combine that with the palms all around, the great food, the only thing that could have made it better is maybe if this were a restaurant on a ship.
Chose the Lobster dinner, and again it didn't disappoint. I'll not only reccomend this restaurant, but definitely return.

Great ambiance as it has an extensive 3 floor patio doesn't make up for the fact that the quality of the food unfortunately resembles something that came out of the microwave instead of off the grill, which makes me sad to say. It seems like they have become complacent with their prime real estate and the food has suffered as a result. We live a few minutes from Hacienda, however we travel all the way to Carmelitas in RSM.
Its my hope that they examine the quality of their meat and vegetables closely before serving it to guests.

I've given this place so many chances over the years because of it's location and convenience. I just don't think I can waste another $ here.
The whole place needs a top to bottom makeover. It's so dirty and dated with window air conditioners to TRY to cool you down, but it never does. Last time we had to ask to move right under the A/C to get through dinner. I feel gross after sitting on the patio because it's so decrepit.
The mediocre food is way overpriced.
The drinks are expensive and there is barely an ounce of alcohol in them. Clearly trying to make a buck on

Wow the location and view of the lake is spectacular. I have to say the restaurant is in a phenomenal area and I was really impressed with the restaurant aesthetic. Unfortunately the food was super underwhelming. I had the shrimp tacos and here are my thoughts. The shrimp was unseasoned and bland, the vegetables like bell peppers and everything in the taco were still hard, i wish they would have cut it smaller and sautéed for longer. The rice and beans were really yummy, overall very visually appealing just need to season and sauté a little bit more and it would be perfect!

I keep giving it a chance because we live so close and the views are beautiful.
But the food here is just so BAD. And the prices are just ridiculous! I think they are hoping people will drink just enough and the views are nice enough, that the customers don't realize how bad the food is.
I've taken a number of friends here, clients, and family because of the lake view, but I've had several tell me this is the worst Mexican food they've ever had.
I'm only writing this in hopes that it will help

I was being nice 3 months ago since we moved here. Great building, awful food and staff! We have spent thousands here since the restaurant is close, and has a nice bar for the Dodger game. But, when Miguel wants to go home, the place shuts down?! Hours are til 10p. Not true! Miguel will close at 8p and make you feel like you shoulda left at already..

Atmosphere / Customer Service are 5 star. There were 9 people in my party and all the staff who took care of us were outstanding. So why the 4 star rating? I had the pleasure of eating at two different Mexican restaurants in three days. Hacienda on the Lake in Mission Viejo was the second. The Lake view was beautiful, the Service was great, but the food did not come close to what I have experienced in other Mexican restaurants.

Very bad bad host
I reserved a table for my brother birthday and they didn't let us in just for two of our guest to be late, they told us, they want to charge us just for stay more than two hours. They want to charge us for bring cake.
Hacienda wasn't like that before and the owner keep saying i wont let you guys in unless all of guest are here.
It was too bad in front of my guest.

We come here way too often for the service and poor quality of food. But the ambiance feels like we're at a resort and keeps us trying again and again.
Today we asked to sit in the sun where another couple was sitting but Miguel (who is alway dismissive) said that section is closed and they are sitting there because they have a service dog. Guessing he doesn't understand the myriad of issues this poses including treating the dog as unwelcome where he's required to be welcome and once again we get sat at a shady table when we've asked for sunshine.

Very nice place, great view to the lake, but the food needs a little more flavor more seasoning, spice. To be Mexican food needs to have the authentic taste that you want more.
It also needs a little music outside in the balconies, something new that people like myself love to hear. Good vibes and happy people.

This place is perfect for getting back into the post COVID restaurant scene. They have sooo much space here. A few different levels of patios to see the lake and the tables are able to be so spread out. I felt really safe eating here. Aside from COVID stuff, being able to sit by the lake and have a meal is just relaxing. The views are great. The food is fairly average when it comes to Mexican food that I have had. It was tasty, but nothing to write home to mom about. This place will get me back with their views of the lake.

More importantly, location location location.
I can't justify $20 for a burrito or basic enchilada that felt like it was simply microwaved...however, a drink and appetizer is better way to go here.

I brought my mom here for her birthday. The restaurant is located right on the lake and has a beautiful view. The restaurant looks really nice inside but we had to sit outside due to COVID guidelines. It was a really hot day and so we were uncomfortable. They definitely need fans and misters to cool down the patio when it's hot. These guidelines are going to be in effect for awhile so it's something they should consider.
My mom and I order the enchiladas mariscos and my sister ordered the steak. The portions were a good size, but I was really disappointed on the taste. My sisters steak
