This place does not treat their employees with respect. The cleaning crew is not allowed to keep their tips. The manager of the facility takes all tips. If an employee takes the tip left for them, it comes out of their paycheck. Keep this in mind when leaving tips. They also use their employees. They lay off employees, then re-hire them to use them for a day, then lay them off again.

We stayed at a small cottage and I thought it would be small but it was actually twice the size a typical hotel room. It was tucked behind the main house next to the other cottages with lots of parking and designated parking per cottage. The cottage had so much to offer and the our stay was lovely. I didn’t even know there was a complementary breakfast of coffee/tea, muffin and quiche with cut fruit. Nice little bite before we headed off. The check in process was so easy. We were sent all the instructions through email. Also, there are two restaurants in the hotel so we didn’t have to step

We had an amazing time here. We stayed at the Hawksbill Cottage and had a great time. The Hotel staff was super friendly and the accommodations were comfortable. Outside the cabin was a ping pong table and our 2 kids and us really had fun using this. It was a very nice vacation and a time we will never soon forget. We are so happy we found this place and plan to come back soon.

I surprised my husband with a trip for his birthday. The Mimslyn Inn was gorgeous... It's historic but updated. The rooms were a bit small but enough room for the 2 of us. The Inn had 2 restaurants, we ate dinner at the Speakeasy both nights. The Circ we only ate our Thanksgiving dinner because it wasn't open any other time, except in the morning, they offered quiche and other continental items. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was very friendly. We are thinking about going back in April for their murder mystery weekend.

Like stepping back in history or into a Hallmark Movie! Very cool, nicely kept old school hotel! The hotel was very clean, the staff was very welcoming and the beds were warm and comfy. The rooms are a little small, but they make great use of the space they have. The lobby was very comfortable and cozy, but to me, the best part was the third floor balcony, so beautiful! A great place to sit and read a book or drink a cup of coffee! If you’re in the area looking for a space to stay and want something a little different, I would check this place out 👍

We have stayed at The Mimslyn Inn many times---for simply visiting the area, having Thanksgiving there, or participating in many murder mystery weekends. Obviously, we love the place or we would not return. We have stayed in many of the rooms but now reserve The Roosevelt Room on the first floor (105). The accommodations, food, service, and atmosphere are wonderful. It is a peaceful and elegant place.

The hotel was nice. Historic but nicely updated. Friendly staff were always helpful and polite. Clean. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were not spacious but not tight. The restaurant Circa 31 had excellent food, with a nice amount of space between tables. The speakeasy in the basement had posters of mobsters and silver screen stars from that time period. The various fireplaces were great for atmosphere. I liked the chandeliers. The area has restaurants within walking or easy driving distance. There are many really great hikes within 30 miles. We stayed for a murder mystery weekend. It was

Our disappointment wasn't in the Inn itself, but in the room that we stayed in. Because it was an anniversary trip for us, we decide to upgrade to a suite, and selected the Roosevelt Suite based upon the pictures on the website. It showed 2 nice size rooms with lots of windows. The room we received was very small, with only 1 single window. Good thing we didn't need the sleeper sofa because in order to use it you would have to have someone come and move the electric fireplace to open it. When we spoke with the front desk they said there was nothing they could do because they were booked.

I have not stayed here. I made a reservation last month thinking I might visit over the Christmas holidays. When I wasn't able to assure that I would get a dinner reservation at the hotel, my husband and I decided to go elsewhere. I canceled the reservation 7 weeks in advance and was charged a $15 cancellation fee. Pretty tacky and grubbing if you ask me, I won't be staying there at all now. Ever. Enjoy the $15.00.

From the moment you approach the front of this gem, you feel as though you have stepped back in time to a much more refined and civilized era. The gorgeous front porch invites you to relax. The hotel staff as well as the Circa 31 restaurant staff are impeccable and very friendly. Any time during the year a stay would be enjoyable, but the best time in my opinion, is their New Years Eve bash!!! Fantastic!
Hopefully this year it will be offered again. Lovely surroundings, scrumptious meals and friendly, helpful people, what more could you want??? Thank you, Jim Sims, to you and your staff for consistently

Beautiful historic inn with southern flair! I would love to visit again when the Speakeasy Bar reopens! Wonderful grounds for strolling around. The cottages are fabulous for families. That area has its own pool and fire pit!Therd is a restaurant in the hotel which is very convenient! The front porch on the Inn is great for before and after dinner drinks or breakfast coffee! Mimslyn is a true delight!

Our family absolutely loves the the Mimslyn Inn. We regularly go to their Sunday Brunches. Their is something for everyone. Their Prime Rib is wonderful. The kids love their waffles. Each week is a different theme. My favorite week is seafood. They have all kinds of shrimp, oysters, fish, salmon and their normal prime rib, waffles and omelet bar. They also have a soup and salad bar along side a grand selection of cheeses that are amazing.

Their drinks are great. The service is always fantastic.

They also have chicken and pork in a lovely sauce. They also have fantastic vegetables. Typically

Don't expect the restaurant or bar to be open on Wednesday. Sorry I paid for an historic inn when we can't get the full benefit of a pub or dining. Closed on Wednesday, maybe Tuesday too. are sure and check before you book. All the grounds need a face lift. Dead shrubbery along drive. Rooms don't have a fridge. We had a large room in the main building with a generous seating area, and it seems just a tad run down.. not worth the $230+ Breakfast is amended, either due to COVID a or lack of personnel. Just a self serve thing with muffins, fruit..

Well after giving management an opportunity to reach out, I felt compelled to share my experience. Too bad could be a great getaway.

Hello,

I felt it necessary to write an email regarding my disappointment in my recent stay. I stayed
at your facility in August 2020. We stayed in one of the newer cottages and the experience
was exceptional. We also dined at the restaurant and enjoyed it tremendously. So we decided we would celebrate our anniversary at the Mimslyn Inn again. I was able to make reservations for two nights in a "historic cottage" and we appreciated the contactless check

We stayed in the Manor House for just one night as a pit stop on our way to somewhere else. I had a feeling we were going to wish we had stayed longer and I was right.

It's a beautiful place, a perfect mixture of modern and vintage. And it's HUGE. We're a big family (6 people), so it takes a lot of space for a place to feel "big" too us. This place pulled that off.

There's plenty of space to eat, sleep, and relax without ever coming close to feeling crowded. I'd even say there was too much space for us! We'll have to come with a larger group the next time

Warning the town of Luray is fairly outdated and run down, so my review is relative to that. Overall, we are glad we stayed at the Mimslyn.

Really neat historical feel with some old grandiose here and there. The staff was very friendly and true to the community culture. Rooms were unique looking and small. Comfortable fit for a couple, adding anymore would have been very cramped.

Restaurant was great and some of the best food the town had to offer. I'm serious about this, save your time/money and eat here. We tried a few of the non-chain places in the area and were disappointed at the price

Pros : great location if you are planning to visit Shenandoah. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

Cons : very small room and bathroom, despite spending 3 nights the toiletries were never replenished, old school air conditioning that did very little, 3 pillows are provided we had to ask for an additional 2 pillows (we saw a lot of guests doing the same), and a pair of AirPods either were stollen or trashed during the cleaning process. When the hotel staff was called they showed very little interest.

Would not recommend and wish we could have left as soon as we saw the state of the room/bathroom

Recently I took a much needed personal vacation. I spent two nights at the Mimslyn Inn and had a very pleasant and relaxing stay! I had planned on spending one night there and one night at Skyland Resort on the Skyline Drive, but after reading reviews about Skyland and actually going there to check out the facilities I decided I better stay safe (and bed bug free) and see if Mimslyn had another room available. Luckily they did and I was able to book the room over the phone and head back to a new room. The hotel decor radiates southern charm and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. They take COVID

What a disappointment! We had so hoped this would be a charming experience with the kind of thoughtful touches and hidden discoveries one expects at a historic inn. It was not. It is a property full of potential with inexperienced execution in hospitality, decor and untrained staff. We rented the Bridal Cottage. The promised "full bath with jetted tub" was a stand-up shower. The only tub was the outdoor jacuzzi with half the jets not working on a deck so tiny two people cannot stand side-by-side. The decor of the cottage was cheap and looked like the kind of furniture one would buy at

Book a cottage! We stayed in the Jewell and were very pleased with the layout, amenities, and cleanliness. Great bath amenities- smells fantastic, even had toothbrushes. Only con is the front heater crackled like a fire and we had to turn it off in the night. Liked the electric fireplace and the Roku tv. Wifi was spotty.

Check in receptionist was very nice. However, checked me in under wrong prrson and thankfully I caught it before my credit card was charged $425 extra. It was a misunderstanding on my last name so an innocent mistake.

I would only stay in a cottage since they are new and well

My husband and I rented one of the cottages for two nights; the South River Cottage. It was adorable, and the fireplace and tub were awesome amenities. The staff was friendly and responsive, cottage was clean and well stocked. We came when the pool was closed, but this particular cottage backed right up to the shared pool, so I'm not sure I would've enjoyed it as much in the summer.

Something to note; Luray is a SUPER small town. Like, way smaller than we anticipated. Very limited activities, food choices, or even nightlife. We came when we were pregnant with our third, so Netflix and

My partner and I stayed at Mimslyn Inn for two nights and used it as a base to explore the area. Overall, the hotel is the epitome of faded luxury, but I'm sure it's one of the nicest in this in this part of the state.

Back in its heyday, you can really tell that Mimslyn Inn was a very grand hotel. The position on the mountain is a great vantage point, but this hotel is in the middle of the small town of Luray, so there aren't the sweeping vistas and rolling hills that you would expect with a countryside manor. You actually looks right onto a motel across the road. At the same time
