He studied Animal Science at the UNIVERSIDAD LA SALLE in Bogota where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1997. Licensed in the State of Florida in 2011.
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such a snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion.
Dr. Joe Barbosa acquired the Animal Hospital of Hallandale in 1993 from Dr. Ward, and has been serving the Hallandale community since 1963. Since then, Dr. Joe Barbosa has performed 1,000+ surgeries (excluding spays and neuters) at his Hospital in Hallandale. Dr. Barbosa received his veterinary degree from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1980.
I sincerely say this is one of the best vets in Miami. Reasonably priced and most importantly actually care! They are all so friendly and after surgery they called two days later to see how hes doing and if I have any questions! I recently took my dog to Dr. Barbosa for an Ear hemotoma and the service that he provided was immeasurable.

Doctor Joe Barbosa is a wonderful veterinarian! He cares about his patients and clients. My cat was neutered, vaccinated and microchipped at the Animal Hospital of Hallandale. After the visit we got follow up call from caring staff.
At the office visit Dr Barbosa also went over the diet plan and recommended flea and tick prevention and answered all my questions. Thanks to him my kitty is healthy and happy and so am I!
I recommend this clinic to all my friends who have cats, dogs, rabbits and birds. Best place with affordable prices!

Dr. Barbosa's wife who runs that office did not want to answer my phone calls and avoided me after the fact. When I finally did get her on the phone I started to describe what happened and she simply hung up on me. No matter how many times I called back she she saw my name on the caller ID and simply did not pick up the phone. I have been taking my cat to the animal hospital for over two years, and I have never experienced such horrific service like I did this past week. My daughter was so worried about taking her dog to the vet because he has a significant heart issue. The entire staff of Hallandale Animal Hospital was professional, kind, and personable. Dr. Barbosa clearly enjoys his job, loves animals, and puts patients and their humans at ease. It's such a relief to walk out of a Dr's office feeling confident you received high quality care from a Dr.and his staff.

I've been taking my two chihuahuas to this clinic for many years. I was always satisfied medically but thought that this is way too pricey and thus never recommended them publicly... Well, this year I decided to save some time and take my dogs to the vet closer to my house in Aventura. I thought i did my (google) research and ended up at bayshore clinic. I live in Hollywood and tried 3 vet offices there before Dr Barbosa at the Animal Hospital of Hallandale was recommended to me. I have always had several cats and a dog and have been going there now for about 15 years. The office staff including the front desk, vet techs, Resident Vets and other vets are all caring, warm, friendly and helpful. Some of my pets were cared for to the end of their lives and after they died (one was a 17 year old cat), we received a sympathy card with notes and expressions of support from all the staff.
