Arthur F. Ahlgrim, our founder, was a man of compassion. He believed that every human being was entitled to a dignified final tribute and that every bereaved family was deserving of compassionate assistance at their greatest time of need. With these beliefs, he established the first Ahlgrim Undertaking Parlor, in the vicinity of 14th Street and Blue Island Avenue in Chicago in 1892.

Toughest thing is to have to say goodbye to your loved one. Losing father after a long illness made me realize that no one is every ready for such goodbye, but having the assistance of the people who with outmost respect and dignity help make transition bearable is essential in such moments. Thank you!

My family and I THOUGHT that shipping my father-in-law's remains would be a logistical nightmare. NOT SO with this awesome family-owned funeral home.
Dad passed away unexpectedly 10 days ago from the day I write this review. It was his family's wish to hold his funeral and burial in the Philippines thus requiring his remains be prepared and preserved for the long flight home.
Jim was very professional, personal and very understanding of our situation. Very patient as I had to relay my father-on-law's family's questions to Jim as I had to translate for them.
