The ability to regulate one's own emotions, recognize emotions in others, and problem solve is essential for Kindergarten and on into adulthood.

Services
Our school opened in 2010, nestled in the Hidden Valley neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota. Katie Rosenthal began as the Head Teacher in 2010, and Tara Jeanetta joined as the Afternoon Teacher in 2012. Our goal was to provide the close relationships and hours of a day care, along with the structure and curriculum of a preschool.
While we gather for songs and stories many times a day, most of our time is dedicated to free play. Our day is bursting with opportunities to explore, build, create, tinker, and experiment. Frequent and open communication with parents is vital for our program. We offer prompt responses to parent's questions and concerns.
We visited MANY preschools in the area and knew the moment we entered Hidden Valley that it was the best place for our daughter. We live on the opposite end of the city but the quality of staff and the overall presentation of the school was something that we could not pass up.

Individual spots for each child and a durable floor that's ready for all the messes we track in. The Green Room is dedicated to dramatic play, and changes with each new weekly theme. The Yellow Closet holds all our dress-up clothes plus a secret passageway to The Blue Room. The two-level closet offers two quiet reading spots, which at times, may double as a tiger den, superhero headquarters, or a magical castle.
The deposit is submitted to save your child's place. The remainder of the session's tuition is divided evenly between two payments (one on the first day, and one at the halfway point). Upon receiving your application, Katie will contact you via email to tell you about any openings we may have. If we have an opening that matches your needs, she will schedule a tour with your family.

My 4 year old son attended Hidden Valley Preschool from September 2016 through the end of May 2017. We found out about the school through a mom at the park shortly after moving to town from out of state. I will use a simple pro/con schedule with a summation at the end to help other parents choose if this school is right for their family.

The classroom and school is clean, nicely appointed, and full of natural light.

Hidden Valley was a real gem for our son. His teachers always had fun learning activities prepared. They sparked his interest in science. He was outside every day playing and most days didn't want to leave his friends when I came to pick him up. His teachers easily kept kids active, engaged and learning. He kept a journal over the whole school year, and it was so fun to look at that the other day and remember his four year-old thoughts and ideas. The holiday party was a lot of fun. I highly recommend Hidden Valley Preschool.

Phenomenal preschool. Both of my boys attended and we could not have been happier. Loving and attentive teachers, clean and bright environment, flexible drop and off and pick up times, lots of outdoor play, focus on safety and respect, and a true development of the love of learning. My kids developed life long friendships and were more than ready for kindergarten. Five stars is an understatement:)

What can I say after 2 years?! Our son *loved* every second of every day here! He'd ask to be the first to arrive and the last to pick up (although often didn't wake up for the former). The teachers, miss katie and miss tara were incredible loving and thoughtful people that he just adored and inspired him to want to be a preschool teacher as his (current) life ambition. With them as role models, I can see why. Our next kiddo is going to start this fall as soon as he hits the 33 mos age cut off and I could not be happier. We are so so lucky to have this school literally around the corner, but knowing

Our first daughter attend HVP for two years and we all loved it. She would get mad when I would be done with work early or pick her up early on a day off, and she loved being the first one there when that happened occasionally! They were very accommodating with my changing work schedule, with our food intolerances, and with supporting our daughter when she adjusted to my husband's military deployments. My child just finished her first year at Hidden Valley Preschool and we couldn't be happier with the results! My daughter looks forward to going to school every day and can not wait for the next school year to start. The teachers and owner go above and beyond for the children and we love the neighborhood. Hidden Valley has an amazing track record, having been at full capacity for past seven years. I do believe there is generally a waiting list for enrollment, so you may need to plan a year or two in advance if interested.
