Augusta Animal Hospital opened its doors in 1981 and over the years our services have expanded. In addition to preventive medicine and surgery, we also have an in-house lab and digital radiography, ultrasonic dental equipment, surgical laser, and complete electronic medical records.
Since the beginning, we have mentored scores of young people, many who have chosen careers in science and medicine--veterinary technology, nursing, human medicine, biochemistry, audiology, dentistry, and veterinarian medicine. Our staff has a combined experience of 135 years (we hope we don't look it) and yet we still find something new to learn all the time.

One of the Best Animal Hospitals I've ever visited. The Staff is Great and they really care about Animals along with Dr. Heather Schaeffer. There is only one other Vet Practice I would ever rate as high, but it's over 100 plus miles away. When I moved I was so worried about finding another Veterinarian but Augusta Animal Hospital has exceeded all Expectations. So when I say one of the Best, it's a very short list at only 1 of 2 I would ever recommend.

A huge thank you! Our dog had an internal infection, the only sign was lethargy. It was Labor Day Weekend and we went to Valley Veterinary Emergency and they stabilized her. We brought in to Dr. Heather Shaffer… and she was still running a fever and not getting better. She made sure she was hydrated, medicated and comfortable. Performed surgery the next day and saved her life! We are so grateful to the entire staff!

Our dog was injured and could not find one vet that would help us because of various reasons from short staffed to no openings...etc. But Dr. Shaffer and Katie listened and helped us and eased our anxiety over our dogs injuries. Can't thank them enough for all they did even though they themselves were swamped with other patients. Kindness and understanding are just as important as medical care and they understand this. I would recommend them a 100%!

My rescue dog stopped walking and couldn't stand up since Monday afternoon. Dr. Shaffer fit her in and I expected the worst. Fortunately she did a Lyme test and it was positive. 21 days of antibiotics and pain meds. my old gal is already standing up with assistance. thank you so much to Heather and her staff!

Dr. Shaffer and her staff are now carrying on Augusta Animal Hospital, since Doctor Hott recently retired. When my dog and I are out, we frequently meet other clients of Doctor Schaffer's. We all agree that we're lucky this practice is here. If you're looking for a vet around here, I highly recommend Augusta Animal Hospital. It's also a beautiful drive going out there.

By far the best place to take your pets, you're not just another dog or cat to them, they are kind, caring, take the time to help you, answer any questions, Dr. Shaffer comes out herself explains everything. The prices are very affordable, no matter who you speak to they are so wonderful. I can promise you if you decide to use them, you will never take your animals anywhere else.

I was charged almost 100 dollars to put down a stray kitten because I found the poor thing (less than 2 months old) dragging its hind legs through the street after it had been hit by a careless driver in front of my house. I didn't hit it, nor was it my cat. But JUST a euthanization cost me 67 dollars. very unprofessional. would not recommend. (this post software asks me to add pictures. I wish I had some. to show how heartless this capitalistic veterinary clinic was)
