Westchester Parents Nrsy SCH
In compliance with state, county and city regulations, providing a safe and healthy childcare environment. Our parent participation model creates an environment where children learn confidently and parents develop tremendous support systems. Our families have the opportunity to truly be involved in their children's education, to learn from our wonderful staff, and to develop supportive friendships that carry on for years.

Both our children and adults build a network - a true family - that is invaluable long after preschool.
Services
WPNS is a parent participation, play-based learning center that has served the surrounding areas for over 60 years. WPNS is more than a traditional preschool. WPNS is a cooperative school environment that encourages a love of learning, respect and community. We recognize the unique qualities of each child and structure our school and curriculum to meet their individual needs.
We are in need of parent volunteers to help with drop-off Monday through Friday from 8:10-8:40 and again from 9:10-9:40. Volunteer parents must be vaccinated and wear masks while working drop-off. Use the sign up sheet below to sign up for your shifts, which also count towards your service hours. There are two volunteer slots per shift as well as one Sub/Back-Up slot per shift.
Our curriculum is deliberately flexible and tailored to the needs of each child. The daily schedule is unhurried, non-competitive and loving. The children join in songs and stories, complete art projects, experience a science or nature project and enjoy outdoor play with sand toys, riding toys and climbing equipment.
The well-being of our children, families, and staff is our primary concern. In compliance with all federal, state and local recommendations, and licensing guidelines, we've developed thorough prevention and sanitization protocol to ensure that we can safely play and learn in a healthy environment. Our plans have been reviewed and approved by the California Department of Social Services.
Joining a cooperative preschool means joining a supportive and welcoming community who cares as much about your child and their development as you do. Being a cooperative preschool also means families participate in more of the school's operations and day-to-day workings than at a traditional preschool.

WPNS has been a wonderful second home for our child and our entire family! It's so much more than a preschool. It's a community focused on making parenting easier through support and education. The new location is modern and playful, and offers more options and hours for working parents.

This place is very special. Here they offer so many activities and special programs. The children are encouraged to explore, take chances, learn and help one another through an education based in play. I am continually surprised by the attentiveness of the teachers who always know and share even the most minute details of my daughter's day. WPNS had helped me so much much to learn and grow as a new parent. We have a plan to help support my daughter as she prepares for school. Each day is filled with fun activities- group time and free time for painting, reading, imagining, discovery

We loved this school!!! My daughter was only there for a few months as we ended up moving due to work, but in those few months both my daughter and I grew to love all of the teachers and made lots of friends. I also had a younger son, who got to tag along when I was a working parent so both of my children and I had a blast having her enrolled at this school. I found all of the staff very friendly and easy to approach. All of the other parents, who had been there longer, were wonderful and always had time to answer questions or help out newbies. The field trips were always fun (Parents had to attend

We had horrible experience at this school!!! We singed up for the summer program - they seemed to have a wonderful facility with many different rooms, including dress up room and art room, so sad my son didn't get to try does even once, the teachers were to lazy I guess to take him up there.why bother if you can just sit outside whole day(less clean up and work and still get payed the same, right? :( )The worst is that they lied in my face that my son goes there everyday!!!One teacher Sue said he doesn't remember, which is crazy to say for a sane , intelligent little boy who loves to

This looks like a cute, friendly, educational, well-run nursery that both encourage and supports. I just wished that they had more time options.

We visited a LOT of preschools in the area and while many if them offered a good opportunity, WPNS offered everything that our family was looking for and just felt like the right place for us to be.

His fall our two and a half year old son started and he attends two half days per week. The school is convenient and close to our home, the staff is excellent, and we really love the philosophy of the school. Children truly do learn through play and this school truly embraces this way of learning. We look forward to many more years at WPNS!

Incredible, supportive atmosphere for both parents and kiddos! My kids have adored this school, with its multitude of FUN choices~painting, writing, drama (to name a few) not to mention a fantastic pre-K program. They've also started a much-anticipated Mommy and Me class! This school has given my family a sense of community in the urban-ness of LA. HIGHLY recommend. :)
