One way to ensure that a house is built according to its specifications is by performing a pre-drywall inspection. A pre-drywall inspection can be performed after the insulation is installed, which is convenient because it allows the home inspector to determine whether it was done properly. However, the insulation may conceal some components in much of the same way that drywall does.
For a new home, ask if radon-resistant construction features were used and if the home has been tested. You cannot see, smell or taste radon. But it still may be a problem in your home. When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today.

Patrick was extremely thorough. He took the time to explain everything he found and provided recommendations along the way. He didn't mind that I hovered over him every step of the way. The report was well written and included photos of the issues he found. He was very detailed in noting the things that needed maintenance versus the things that needed to be replaced. I would definitely recommend Patrick and would for sure work with him again. First class!

Our experience with Patrick at Truss Home Inspections was stellar. I scheduled a pre-drywall inspection online, received prompt appointment verification, and Patrick showed up a few minutes ahead of schedule. The walk-through was informative and not rushed at all. The thorough inspection report was emailed the next day which was pleasantly surprising. The report legitimized many concerns I had with our builder's construction but not all, which confirmed a few of my concerns as being over-reactions. Patrick recently did a home inspection for us on a house we’re purchasing. Over the years we’ve purchased multiple homes and I can honestly say this inspection surpassed any we’ve ever had done. Patrick was very responsive in replaying back as our original home inspector had an emergency. He went through everything. Also gave me some wonderful recommendations on what would protect my house once I become the owner. If you need a home inspector I do highly recommend Patrick Woodward. Patrick and I had a few conversations over the phone before I decided to hire him, every question and concer I had he attend to it. The day if the inspection he showed up at the house earlier than appointment time and immediately jumped into action. Did not waste any time. Patrick provided the most complete, thorough, and informative home inspection that I have ever had. With other inspectors, you will hear a lot of "Beyond the scope of the inspection" and "Unable to access -- not with Patrick. He crawled the entire perimeter of the crawl space, walked every inch of the roof, and inspected every appliance, outlet, and window. The report was detailed, contained annotated photos of each item, and was delivered within 24 hours of the inspection.

We are in the process of purchasing new construction and had Patrick do our home inspection. His attention to detail is terrific. We recently had Patrick do our home inspection for our townhouse. We are first-time homebuyers and we couldn't have been happier with the detailed inspection Patrick conducted.
