Services
At Albany Physical Therapy, PC, the physical therapists treat the whole person, considering the emotional and mental components of physical recovery. At the initial examination, the physical therapist begins with a comprehensive history and then evaluates each client's biomechanics, joint mobility, range of motion, muscle strength, balance and agility.
Sports Specific Rehabilitation is designed to get you back to your individual sport as quickly and safely as possible. Each specialized treatment plan will be designed to rehabilitate your specific athletic injury, as well as working on the prevention of future injuries in that sport. Biomechanical analysis of potentially injurious movement patterns and client education is a key component of SSR.
Physical therapists and personal trainers work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Such programs may incorporate elements of Pilates, the latest in core stabilization training, specific postural exercises, strength & conditioning, and balance.
Albany Physical Therapy has established a gym membership program for our patients who are interested in maintaining a Physical Therapist's, or Personal Trainer's, input and guidance for a regular fitness program. Strength training using free weights and our Keiser Pneumatic equipment for building muscle mass, strength, endurance, and maintaining bone density.
She graduated with her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from UCSF/SFSU in 2003. In 2020 Liz received her post-professional DPT from Evidence in Motion, with an emphasis in Executive Practice Management. She also taught Iyengar Hatha Yoga for 16 years, and when appropriate incorporates yoga/mindfulness training into physical therapy treatment.

Elizabeth was excellent and I would see her again but 1 less star for the crowded facility. The most crowded p.t. facility I've ever visited with people avoiding bumping into each other. They are super busy and not so easy to get appointments at times you need.

My MD referred me to Albany Physical. I called and recorded a message requesting an appointment. No return call. Did the same again. And again, with identical results. Finally gave up. I feel very disappointed because I was truly looking forward to working with them.

This place DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS.

No one is answering the phone. On May 6rd, 2021, left a message and requested to have someone call me back regarding needed services. A week, and one day later, still no return phone call. Phoned again on May 14, 2021 left a second message, as no one is answering the phone at this place. Requested a return phone call.

This place came highly recommended. So what's going on? Don't want to deal with specific needs? Was specific, in my message, requested a certain PT who came highly recommended, so what's going on?

I could not be happier with my physical therapy experience at Albany PT. I had weekly sessions with Laurie Hettinga for about 3 months due to grade 1 spondylolisthesis, disc bulging and stenosis. When I started, I had a good amount of pain shooting through my hips and legs that was preventing me from sitting down, running, bending, twisting and doing many basic daily activities and any sports. Laurie was extremely thorough and considerate in assigning to me properly regressed exercises to slowly strengthen the muscles necessary to stabilize my spine. Over the three months, my condition improved

Just finished another series of appointments at Albany Physical Therapy. The first was several years ago. Was happy to be able to have sessions with Tamara, the same therapist I had worked with before. Now, just as experienced previously, the facility was clean, not crowded, on time appointments, efficient office staff, and a lovely therapist who worked with me at my speed, with gentle encouragement, and great listening skills. APT has worked well for me, and I recommend it without hesitation. BTW all COVID safety protocols were followed, so no worries there.

I had my first scheduled visit today....
I was so impressed with the efficiency and seamless process to get my projected 6 week therapy started.
Everyone I dealt with was so nice and any prior nervousness left me .
By the time I got home Tamara the p/t had already sent me a plan that included a visual aid to the therapy that we had talked about !

Very professional place. Good equipment. My experience with my therapist has been excellent. He has devised exercises that are well-focused on my problems. I've been treated twice before by physical therapist in different practices. This is by far the best.

It's frightening to have a bad injury and wonder if you'll be able to walk again, much less walk correctly. Tenzin was extremely calm, supportive and encouraging. He had many creative exercises to help me learn to stretch my foot and calf. I greatly appreciate the entire team at Albany PT. Oh, I'm walking now with no boot and no cane.

Great place to relax bones. I had back pains and the lady I had was great, she showed me how to stand properly, taught me some exercises and tips. I can't remember her name, but she's a big soccer fan, which enhanced the experience.

I've been at Albany PT for several issues: knees, feet, shoulders and back and the treatment has been the best. I especially recommend Kristen. They don't have a pool, but their gym is a great place to start working on getting better. All the staff are well trained and up-to-date in their knowledge. This place is better than any other I've been to in the East Bay!

Very fortunate to have stumbled into this PT clinic - and even more fortunate to have landed Dan A. as my Physical Therapist (though when others stepped in to help cover when he was on vacation, they were equally thorough and effective). Learned about using a Bodyblade for shoulder surgery recovery exercises which has been essential to a rapid return to long distance running, strength training (at Equinox) and stiff-man yoga. And....insurance coverage and billing was super smooth, unlike two other local PT clinics with theoretically equivalent insurance coverage. And...easy parking. Who could

In the past I had been to other physical therapy places for a shoulder rotator cuff injury, and a broken ankle that were covered by my health insurance. Other physical therapy places billed the insurance company for 30 minutes of icing and used bored P.T. assistants who handed you a sheet of exercises and told you to go home and ice. In contrast, Albany Physical Therapy, which my insurance didn't cover so I had to "self pay" only uses Physical Therapists with PhDs, not P.T. assistants to do all the physical therapy treatments and provided excellent caring treatment for a broken leg

"It's a long road a winding to the land of my dreams..." I've been around the 'hood a time or two. Fourteen months, to be exact. I've had hospital physical therapy. outpatient physical therapy, occupational physical therapy, speech therapy and neuropsychiatric therapy. Through out the SFBay Area.

I know whereof I speak...

These people are good. Mean really good. They are all well-trained, patient, kind, flexible, and most of all professional. Right now we are working on walking without a cane...I would not have thought this possible six months ago. We are working

I was referred to Albany PT and could not be happier. I saw Ann Michelle and over the last 7 months she has rehabilitated my frozen shoulder back to normal. Everyone at Albany PT has been friendly, supportive and helpful. I hope to never need PT again but if I do, would hesitate to go there again.

This isn't my first experience with Physical Therapy, so I do know how much good it can do to help heal the body. I've had mostly good experience with PT, as long as it was through private insurance. PT through the county isn't worth the time or effort.
So, as for Albany PT...again I'm impressed with the investment my therapist has made in me. She is concerned, listens, takes copious notes and makes me go through the motions. Adds more exercises as time goes by or if I let her know that I experienced a lot of pain after exercising, then she decides how much to dial it

From the front office staff to the PTs, everyone at Albany PT is professional, courteous and helpful. I saw Laura G. for hip replacement rehab, then again to resolve a shoulder issue. Her cheerful, optimistic attitude kept my spirits up, and her methodical and carefully designed treatments helped my body gain strength and ability day by day and week by week. What a joy to be able to move again! I am so pleased that I went to Albany PT and unhesitatingly recommend it.

I just returned after a session with Liz and am writing my first yelp review. A tendonitis leading to nerve damage caused by the surgical boot left me on crutches and clueless. I have had ten weeks and four doctors dealing with each incident as it arose.

She has been the first to see the whole picture. Her professional approach and plan of care has given me much needed hope and support.
