Jay Wisnicki, MD, FAAO, FACS, FAAP, FNYAM grew up in New York and studied computers and electrical engineering in college, then went to medical school and specialized in ophthalmology. He is a world- renowned strabismus surgeon, well published, and lectures nationally and internationally. He is the former Chairman of the Beth Israel Ophthalmology Department, but still serves as a clinical professor of Ophthalmology & Pediatrics at Mt. Sinai.

Dr Jay Wisnicki is the man! I suffered from adult strabismus and everything that went along with it (visual appearance, confidence issues, peripheral blindspots, headaches, etc.).
At 40, I decided to do something about it. I did my research and found Dr Wisnicki was "the guy". After one appointment, he recommended surgery to correct the issue. I was extremely apprehensive about having surgery because I had two previous eye surgeries as a child that I don't have fond memories of.

After 32yrs of failed surgeries and procedures by surgeons who were “the best”, Dr Wisnicki changed everything. Every day since my surgery I look in the mirror and can’t believe the change in the position of my eye and even more so, how strong It feels. Past surgeries also left me in a lot of pain during a much longer recovery. Not this time. It may have taken 32yrs, but It was worth the wait. Thank you doctor

Absolutely horrible! The front desk is rude and unprofessional, I spent whole day trying to reach them and either they are "transferring" me to supervisor, who puts me on hold for over 20 minutes, or they blatantly hanging up on me. My whole family has been patient in this office for years. I have had enough! They are not even busy, ever!

Dr. Wisnicki and his team did a great job fixing my eye problems. Everything was done in a very professional/competent manner and the surgery was successful. I highly recommend him and his clinic.
Update September 2021: One year later, my eye surgery is still successful and Dr. Wisnicki and his team have still showed the same professionalism and competence through my post surgery follow up visits! Still highly recommend him and his team!

The doctor I saw was great. However the place inside the office where you get your eye glasses is horrible. I paid 900.00 dollars for glasses that was full of scratches and now I can't even wear . When I went back to complain they lied and said it was from the laser so that they would know where to place the prescription on the glasses. I have worn glasses for many years and I have never seen this sloppy work before. Worst place to spend near a thousand dollars for glasses.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I had been going here for nearly 10 years, seeing Dr. Bellante (who is wonderful by the way) with no issues. Unfortunately, Dr. B left the clinic last year and this year, when I went, the experience was entirely different and horrible. I booked an annual exam but what they didn't tell me was that my usual check up was now broken up into 3 separate exams and I had to come back for each of them and pay an additional $30 for contact lens scripts- which they are now holding until I finish coming back for the full exam (which previously had been done in

Walked out when receptionist insisted that I had a $40 co-pay for an annual eye exam that my insurance company informed me has no co-pay. Have been with the practice a long time but not any more. They lost a bunch of their provider and appear to be in disarray and wasted time that I did not have to waste. Would give zero stars in I could.

Efficiently run practice. Staff is professional, courteous and organized. Office is clean and well maintained. I had a great experience and underwent surgery under Dr Rebecca Weiss who is knowledgeable, patient and responsive to all questions. Dr. Weiss is very efficient and pleasant. Would recommend practice as well as MD.

Reception staff was lovely. Dr. Weitzner was alarmingly rude, patronizing and brusque to the point where I hesitated asking questions about my care. This guy needs several lessons in bedside manners. I will not go to Union Square Eye Care (either location) ever again and I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before making my appointment!

I don't think I've ever written a review online, but I feel incredibly taken advantage of by Union Square Eye Care that I want to help my others not be tricked the same way.
I was a new patient, made an appointment online for a routine check up so I could renew my drivers license. I believed them to be an in-network provider covered by my Aetna vision insurance. I have no vision problems, the check up was simple
