Training together empowers us mentally and physically - together we build confidence and fitness. Come join our community!. We offer group training in Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi), Judo, and Self-Defense classes for adults. On the weekend, we also host competition training and open mats.

We have a youth program, and we also have a depth of instructors from whom to choose from for private lessons! The gym features 1600 square feet of mat space, a dedicated heavy bag space, and a private, bookable room for private lessons or training. We're also colocated with North Durham Fitness, so you have easy access to lifting and metabolic conditioning!
Services
For Competition Training or Private Training on Sunday, or if you don't see what you're looking for, please get in touch through email, Instagram, or the Facebook Group (TJJ Durham). Fundamentals: If you are a beginner, this is a great class to join! We will go over the basics of Jiu Jitsu. The class is open to all levels, and we generally have a good mix of levels in this class!
Unlimited Youth Jiu Jitsu classes for your child. We offer discounts for multiple children from the same family, starting at $150 for two children. This option is great if you're a blue belt or higher who would like to drop into any of our Jiu Jitsu classes. If you are interested specifically in Private Lessons, Judo, MMA, or other fitness offerings, please contact us!
If you've ever watched an MMA fight, you've likely seen some Jiu Jitsu. Jiu Jitsu is an essential component of Mixed Martial Arts, and also, an incredibly effective form of self-defense and exercise. In our Fundamentals classes, we start with self-defense, and explore how those self-defense principals can translate to sport Jiu Jitsu.
We currently offer two Judo classes each week, taught by Judo Black Belt Alex Lahman. The Wednesday class focusses on Judo Fundamentals - we generally spend some time on Uchi Komis and learn a new throw or technique. The Friday class is more advanced with plenty of Uchi Komis and opportunities for Randori (that said, beginners are still welcome)!
If you come to this class regularly, you're guaranteed to hone in on a technique over the course of several months and see a progression in your ability to use the technique in live roles. You're also guaranteed to get hard roles at the end of class, if you want them. If you have wrestling shoes, you're encouraged to wear them in class!

Great place to train! I’ve been here for about 4 months now and everyone has been more than professional. The instructors are experts who have true passion for the teaching. Plenty of classes to choose from and I look forward to coming to class every day. I’d recommend to everyone regardless of age, experience, or gender.

Seth, Detroit, Brandon and Andrey are all absolutely fantastic instructors and they've made TJJ my favorite place to train both self defense and sport jiu jitsu. Seth convinced me to get into martial arts a little over two years ago and I'm incredibly grateful my first exposure to the sport was such a positive one. The community at the gym is the friendliest, most supportive one I know - everyone trains hard, but everyone's also there to help each other. Would strongly recommend!

As a US. Marine Corps Veteran, Exercise Physiologist and Functional Medicine Health Coach for over two decades, I am always on a relentless quest to find the best practitioners to support and guide me in every genre. From day one as a White Belt stepping into my first Jiu Jitsu class, Royce Gracie Black Belt Seth Shamp and the TJJ Community made me feel welcome and included. Bring your family and friends! My wife and two kids all started at the same time and TJJ is a friendly, no ego, family environment. Seth executes every class I take with him in an extremely accessible teaching style that was

We were visiting Durham for a few weeks and I wanted to train while away from my home. I attended 4 classes each week and felt my skills growing with each class.
Seth's style of teaching is direct and to the point. He doesn't waste time talking too much or going over the skill more than necessary. He introduces a skill, gives some great examples then lets you start practicing. Right about when you realize you're making a mistake he stops everyone and shares some insight that corrects what you were doing wrong. A much better teaching style than cramming too much info up front.

My son has been training with Seth at TJJ for five years now. It is a great family friendly atmosphere. As my son made friends I have made friends with the other parents. Seth is patient and he really cares about each and every child. I will recommend this school to anyone who will listen! Not only has my son’s technical knowledge of Gracie JiuJitsu grown so has his confidence. If you have a child who is interested in martial arts please give Triangle Jiu Jitsu a try. You will not regret it.

Triangle Jiu Jitsu is a great place to get in shape, learn self-defense and or to prepare yourself for the competition scene. Seth provides top-level instruction in a way that can be understood by the novice or the advanced student. If you have an opportunity to train in Durham, make sure you stop by to see just what makes TJJ so special.

Triangle Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic place to learn. The environment is extremely friendly and welcoming to people of all ages and abilities. If you are overweight and un-athletic like I was, they will welcome you and help you to become your best self.
Seth is an amazing teacher. His knowledge of Jiu Jitsu is extensive, but he is also exceptionally capable at breaking down his lessons in ways that make learning intuitive. My only regret in joining TJJ is that I did not start sooner.
