In the Late 1880's Ben Skalet a skilled Russian goldsmith arrived in New York City to make his way in the world. Ben and his two sons worked hard and built a growing business designing and manufacturing fine jewelry. During World War II the Skalet family designed and made surgical equipment to help with the war effort.
After the war, Skalet continued what they do best and grew into a larger company creating fine jewelry for some of America's finest jewelers. It was in the late 1960's when John Skalet decided to go out on his own and pursue a dream. John's dream was to design and create artistic jewelry and work closely with the clients.

Howard went above and beyond to help me design my wedding set. After having a heartbreaking experience with another jeweler, Howard was able to go above and beyond to help me create exactly what I wanted. His prompt and direct communication during the design process was amazing, and he stuck to the schedule he provided. They are beautiful rings that will last beyond my lifetime.

Everybody here is incredibly nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and honest. I can't recommend them highly enough. Before I knew about them, I bought an engagement ring for my wife elsewhere. Afterwards, my wife and I bought our wedding bands here. They were incredibly helpful in picking out our wedding bands. We're very happy with both bands. After we got married, we had them laser connect my wife's wedding band and engagement ring, and they did a fabulous job. Recently had my ring resized and they did a wonderful job, ring looks great just like when I dropped it off but now it fits. It was back 4 days sooner than they said it would be which was awesome. Super friendly folks, they have gorgeous jewelry that's all made in house. Highly recommend. Will probably be back when it's time to choose or design a wedding band!

Howard did the MOST AMAZING job on our custom engagement ring. He listened to exactly what we wanted and the quality speaks for its self. Stopped by again & met both owners. They are very personable and offered to resize my ring for free. Was able to find two beautiful rings that fit perfectly! One is an estate ring and the other was handcrafted by Skalet! The brothers are very knowledgeable about the stones and gems and learned new facts about the collection there. Honey and I were talking today about writing this review on Yelp, thinking it isn't really necessary since it's already inundated with 5 star reviews. But we'll throw another stone into the pile (ha ha). I had perused the web for inspiration, ultimately resulting in my fiancé going down the path of a custom engagement ring - because as a Colombian, of course I want a Colombian emerald as the primary stone. Skalet Family Jewelers did an absolute amazing job with my wedding band and helped replate my engagement ring as well as reset the centerstone! My engagement ring is a very unique shape and they were able to custom make a wedding band to match my ring very beautifully for a very affordable price! I highly recommend this jewelry store. It was my first stop when looking for an engagement and wedding ring so I had a lot to learn. Howard helped me and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Very happy! We were on our journey to find a engagement ring and decided to go for the custom route. We for sure wanted a diamond alternative (such as Moissanite and lab growns) and was glad Skalet Family Jewelry had those option. I drawn that this is a family of generations of knowledge, skills, and passion.
I sent Howard an inquiry and request based off of another ring. He answered all my questions, put in his suggestion to make it even more beautiful, and cleared all my worries.

The best jeweler in town! Highly recommend coming here for any jewelry needs whether you're looking to purchase engagement rings or wanting to update your old stuff. I came in here looking to swap out a stone in my wedding band and they searched high and low for exactly what I wanted, finally received the call they found the black diamond I have always wanted and a week later I was picking up my gorgeous black diamond set in rose gold wedding band. I first met Howard May 2019 when I was looking for my engagement ring. My then-boyfriend gave me the green light to start looking at engagement rings, because he wanted to make sure I would like the ring. I looked at several other jewelers for a couple months prior to coming to Skalet. I remember looking at Skalet's website, and I was not intrigued enough by the website to come into the store. This is our 2nd purchase. The first one was a band for my honey. It was beautiful and exactly what he wanted. He was looking for a specific metal. And we were able to engrave the inside. This time we were looking for a ring for me. I really like the 2 brothers. We keep coming in at 4pm, and hour before they close, due to my honey wanted to finish watching the football game. We were greeted with open arms, not annoyance that we came in right before they closed. Bother brothers are gemologist, they actually design and make their own jewelry in-house.
