Cherry Preschool is a preschool in Evanston that offers programs for children aged 2 to 5, including Transitional Kindergarten, STEM, Pre-K, English/Spanish Dual Language and more. If you are interested in applying for the 2021-22 school year, we still have scattered openings in several of our classes.

Services
Warren W. Cherry Preschool is a partial-day, not-for-profit, non-sectarian early childhood education program that is independent and parent-governed. Established by parents and early childhood educators seeking to create an independent institution that would meet the needs of the community's young children, Cherry Preschool opened its doors in September of 1992.
The Cherry Preschool Board was established in January of 1992 when a group of parents found themselves in need of a quality preschool embodying a warm, nurturing, developmental, nonsectarian, multicultural approach to early childhood education. Cherry Preschool grew from these parents' dream. A not-for-profit corporation owns the preschool as well as the building in which it is housed at 1418 Lake Street, Evanston.
Our Transitional Kindergarten class is a bridge between Pre-K and Kindergarten. Taught by an experienced Kindergarten teacher, this class will provide an age and developmentally appropriate blend of kindergarten standards and preschool learning foundations all while supporting your child's social-emotional development.
In response to our families' ever-changing childcare needs, Cherry is pleased to offer several affordable and reliable options for parents who need quality childcare outside of regular school hours. Parents who need a set schedule are encouraged to sign up for our extended day options when enrolling.

Cherry Preschool believes that all children, regardless of ability, deserve to have access to a high quality preschool education. Since 1992, our program has specialized in the inclusion of children with additional needs in the context of the preschool classroom.

My three children all go/went to Cherry and we absolutely love it. The teachers are warm and engaging. The focus is on teaching the kids to be kind and inclusive and they learn through play. The inclusion program is incredibly special. It is fun school and just a wonderful community of families. They also give a lot of financial scholarships. My kids were totally kindergarten ready because of Cherry.

I am a speech language pathologist who had the unique pleasure of working in Cherry Preschool with a client with special needs once per week. The staff at Cherry Preschool was warm and welcoming during each of my visits; they asked questions, were engaged, and consistently followed through with all speech/language recommendations I provided. They were always eager to better understand each child's unique learning styles, and celebrated all children's strengthens. I was continually impressed with each teacher's teaching style and their team approach to providing instruction in the classroom. This

Cherry Preschool is a wonderful community of teachers, administrators, parents and children. We care about each other. The friendships formed by children and their families at Cherry last forever.
