Lived at the Grove (250 W19th) for 12 months until April 2021, in one of the street level apartments with a yard. Brilliant building and apartment was lovely; finishings great, any repairs / issues were always quickly addressed. The Super (Petrit) and his facilities team, along with all of the concierge / doorman team are fantastic and make your residence enjoyable with their friendliness, attentiveness and willingness to help.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!
We were sold on the location, the actual apartment units that look really nice, with modern finishes and white wood. We decided to the take apartment despite it not having the same amenities as its peer set (no gym, tiny rooftop that's always closed, no real lounge etc.). Also the doormen and super, Petrit were really nice and well-meaning (the one star belongs to them.)
However, living in this building was the WORST experience I've ever had in almost 8 years of living in the city. First, the building is old, so the HVAC units are loud, clunky and break often. Also the hallways

Save yourself the trouble and don't move here. This building has been under construction for the last 3-4 years with no end in site. Management and the brokers will tell you the work is almost done and give false promises that the work will be done soon, but it is never ending. You will be woken up in the morning by loud facade work and construction workers in the hall, who smoke cigarettes in the stairs and shutdown the elevators. They drag their dirty boots through the hallways which are rarely cleaned.
Speaking of the hallways, they haven't been painted in years and are scuffed up which is

I wish I can leave something less than a five star—MANAGEMENT IS A MESS. No one puts in the effort to take any of my calls and messages, emails go unanswered, and building staff is completely disregarded. The building has been in construction for years and they keep giving us false hope of “in a month.” IF YOU DON’T KNOW, DON’T PUT A DATE ON IT. Waste of my time—management lies through their teeth. My super has been very compliant and helpful, but this goes beyond him—WHERE IS MANAGEMENT?? Rest assured, will not be renewing my lease.

My experience has been pretty consistent with the one/two star ratings below.
- I moved into the Grove in June and was told renovations would be complete by July. I knew the date would slip, but the latest email to tenants says renovations will be complete in November
- I had an issue with paid rent not being captured in the new Greystar system. After being charged late fees, it took weeks for any kind of response. In fact, it was the broker, MNS, not Greystar, that resolved the issue
- My air conditioner was not functioning for over a month in the middle of the summer. I sent email after email

First of all, buildings amazing. I’ve lived in Greystar buildings prior to moving to the grove, and it wasn’t this bad. There has been scaffolding and I was under the false pretense that it would be down in two weeks. It’s now been what feels like a lifetime, and the scaffolding is up. Every time I call it’s always a new person, and it’s absurd. I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve been lied to repeatedly, no one knows what’s going on, and I just want out.

The Grove is a high end luxury building with renovated one bedroom apartments going for $4,500 per month. However the services in this building are lacking. The roof deck is tiny - and has been closed for the last month due to unforeseen issues (in the height of summer!). Prior to this only one of the grills was working. There has been scaffolding around the building for the last 18 months we have lived here with the management promising for over a year it will be gone soon. The washing machines do not wring out water from towels and they must be hand wrung or placed in the dryers for three cycles

They have lied to most of the new tenants in the building that I know of. The construction will not be done when they tell you! The construction has been happening since 2014 and they have lied to the tenants to ensure that they renew. They blame it on DOB permits which is not true, they have had the permits for over a year and have not properly compensated anyone. Do not move into this building. They will take your money and give you something completely different than you thought you were receiving. Read the other discussions they are all true. The tenants are all moving out and new ones moving
