Services
Denver Acupuncture and Sports Medicine prides itself on providing nature and effective treatments for sports injuries. We use acupuncture, dry needling, and therapeutic B12 injections to help you recover faster. Our treatments are a natural, safe and effective way to help you heal. They also help you performing your best for years to come.
Trigger Point (TrP) Needling uses thin, sterile, single use needle inserted in to the muscle to try and illicit a local twitch response (ltr). For most people this sounds intimidating, but it usually is quite tolerable. You will feel a light pinch at the beginning, then a little pressure or dullness, and then will feel the muscle twitch or do a quick contraction.
Dr. Scott Richardson DAOM has 6 years of graduate and post graduate education in acupuncture and needling therapy. He received a Masters and Doctorate degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego CA. In addition to his training in the US, Scott also studied at ChengDu University in China and did an apprenticeship in Taipei Taiwan.
Acupuncture is one of the most commonly used therapies among the world's leading athletes. But this does not imply that you have to be a pro athlete to enjoy the benefits of acupuncture. Whether you are a triathlete, a diehard endurance athlete, gym rat, devoted yogi, or a weekend warrior, acupuncture can improve your performance by revitalizing your general health.
B12 is an essential vitamin that your body needs to make health red blood cells and maintain your nervous system. But, not all B12 is the same. When you are deficient in B12 it can effect mood, energy, and even fertility. I have found it to be a great adjunct therapy for conditions that effect the nervous system like fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, and even shingles.

I first saw Dr. Richardson post-surgery for a pelvis reconstruction for perfuse swelling and pain. I had gained 15 pounds of fluid from surgery and after 2 acupuncture sessions that first week my leg was back… normal size. I now see him for other chronic and acute sports injuries. We've been able to alleviate my pain and keep me riding pain free. I had been skeptical of acupuncture previously but this has helped more than PT and NSAIDs.

I recently took Scott's injectables class, and I can't recommend it enough. He was very thorough about treatment protocol and legality of injectable treatments. His product knowledge - and where to buy product - has been invaluable for my own practice.
The class also had a lot of great hands-on learning, with Scott walking us through the procedures and evaluating our technique. I hope he continues to teach this class for practitioners in our industry because he's so well-versed.
If Scott teaches an Injectables Pt 2, I'll be there.

Scott is the acupuncturist's acupuncturist. I was super excited to deepen my skills as a practitioner myself by training with him and hold him in the utmost regard as a gifted and knowledgable practitioner. I wouldn't hesitate to take the opportunity to learn from him, or if just seeking professional treatment as a patient, either way you are in the expert hands!

Do not know what my husband would do without his therapy with Denver Acupuncture & Sports Medicine! He benefits immensely from the acupuncture and many other natural therapy options. He has a neurological condition that causes chronic pain, does not respond well to pharmaceuticals, and he is also an athlete who struggles with recovery due to his health condition. Not only are the treatments natural and effective, but we have found immense comfort coming here because of the compassion and understanding he is always met with! From muscular issues, to pain management, to stress and anxiety release

Today I had my first appointment with Dr. Scott Richardson for a couple sports/running/lifting related issued I was having. His office location is conveniently located near cherry creek, and is very clean and welcoming. Scott asked questions about my ailments as well as about myself as a person before starting any treatment. He explained what everything was doing for my ailments as he went, he was very thorough, and I left instantly feeling a reduction in my discomfort. I look forward to my next visit, and I definitely recommend him if you are active and want to treat your sport ailments without

I have been seeing Dr. Scott Richardson for over 2 years almost weekly. He has been instrumental in reducing my headaches and assisting me with healthy digestion. He has also helped me to heal various injuries I have had from dancing. He listens and has a great knowledge of the body. I highly recommend.
