The staff at Smiles on Sandy is dedicated to making your experience as smooth as possible. Our staff has been with the practice ranging from 4 to 27 years, giving them a vast range of experience in the dental field. They have developed long standing relationships with our patients, watching them grow, marry, and have children of their own.
Portland Dentist, Dr. Daby has continued to invest heavily in education, enrolling in continuing education courses and study clubs to constantly expand his skills, and stay at the cutting edge of knowledge and technology in the field of dentistry. Due to his dedication to education, Smiles on Sandy is able to offer many procedures that are routinely referred to specialists.
Jon M. Daby D.D.S. graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2003. After graduating he received further advanced training in all dental specialties by completing an optional one year hospital residency program in Syracuse, NY. Dr. Jon has continued to receive advanced postdoc training in implants, root canal treatment, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry, among other specialties through many hours of continuing education.
Smiles on Sandy believes that no dentistry is the best dentistry. We strive to prevent or minimize the amount of treatment necessary to restore health. We do this through placing protective SEALANTS. We utilize theDIAGNODENT laser cavity detection device. This has enabled us to find and treat cavities while they are far too small to be seen with X-rays or the naked eye.
Today's dental technology has enabled us to change our patients' smiles into the "Hollywood smiles" seen only in the movies. It truly is amazing what only a couple appointments can do for a person's self-image. PORCELAIN VENEERS are the procedure most asked about. This procedure involves bonding extremely thin "veneers", or "laminates" made of porcelain to a patient's teeth giving them a new shape and shade of white.

I have been a client for 11 years, great professional, friendly, and caring folks. I was extremely afraid of dental treatments when I first started, and needed Nitrous even for tooth cleaning but now I only need some form of sedation only for very serious treatments like root canal. I would recommend this place to all young or old.

I never write reviews but Dr. Brett and Michelle the dental assistant were so incredibly nice and easy to work with. The equipment and facilities are very professional and clean. The equipment seemed brand new and current. I also really liked getting to see my x-rays and other information on a large screen in front of the chair I was in, I thought it was really clever and cool.

I was asked to remove this review in a letter I found to be rather patronizing. If anesthesia for lower molars really is so difficult, why am I only finding out after the fact? Since I don't lie or mislead anywhere in my review - and I'm certainly not attacking anyone's character - I'm rather disinclined to take it down.
I'd recommend spending your time better connecting with your *current* patients to avoid this situation to begin with, not harassing old ones to hide your mistakes from the public.

You are in good hands here! My dental hygienist, Jerri is a delight! She is so kind and makes your time in the dentist chair enjoyable and a total breeze. Dr. Daby is also very kind and knowledgeable. They definitely know what they are doing and I will certainly keep coming back!

Both my wife and I have been patients of Dr. Daby for several years. Recently, Dr. Daby informed me I needed a crown, and his staff had me sign the estimate on the way out the door. Unlike other dentists I've used in the past, Smiles on Sandy did not confirm that the procedure would be covered by my insurance - they only do this if you request it - and they didn't inform me about this at the time. They also never told me orally that the estimate they had me sign wasn't an estimate of the total potential costs, but rather just the estimate if the work was covered by insurance.

Who ever looks forward to going to the dentist? It's nuts but that's how I feel! Ok, so I don't have much happening in my dental health other than cleanings and xrays, Dr. Daby and his staff are incredible. I'm not just saying this because I live in the neighborhood but their new office space has a beautiful, clean atmosphere. Lots of pretty vegetation looking out of the windows and nice waterfall images on the ceiling. Xrays are not painful and you don't even have to get out of your chair! Speaking of chairs, you might be lucky enough to have the newer massage chair

Do not go there is you do not have insurance. My Mother and I both go to Smiles on Sandy. When I received her bill I noticed it was $93.00 less than mine for the exact same sevice. I called to ask why and was told it was because I did not have insurance. Seems to me they are ripping off people without insurance. Their contracted price with the insurance company is what the insurance companies believe is a fair price for the service. I was told I could get insurance if I want the same rate. After well over 50 years with the same office I see no reason to go back.

It is so refreshing to go to the Dentist without any lengthy lectures. I was just there this last week for a cleaning, my hygienist was so gentle and very complimentary about how I am caring for my teeth. The office is lovely viewing a beautiful garden, views of waterfalls above. I always get blankets and settle right in. I am no longer scared to go to the Dentist. I am finally getting the dental care I needed and was neglecting. Also lots of fun little goodies before you leave. I won't ever go anywhere else.

This was hands down the best cleaning I have ever had. First off I love the relaxing low light and beautiful picture lights to look at while I'm laying back. No one loves staring at a non-descript ceiling but we've all been there, this was a wonderful change that helped distract me. Also: MASSAGE CHAIR. A genius addition, complete with a leg pillow! My hygienist was friendly, efficient, and wonderfully speedy, with my appointment taking well under an hour. I received a call this morning from an employee of Dr. Daby's asking me to remove this review. It was surprising to me in that my 1-star review was but a drop in the bucket of an otherwise pristine track record. It leaves me wondering how many other patients have been asked to do something similar. Unfortunately, I don't think it's professional, let alone appropriate to use my personal information to harass me about something I said on a public forum. People have a right to know what my experience was and I don't think I was crossing the line. I did give credit to his staff

I only can come one the weekends, so I am only familiar with weekend staff. Who have all been great.
Dr. Michelle is awsome! When I found out they had a woman dentists I knew I could take my four year old daughter here. She has an aversion towards male Dr.s, barbers,... They even let her see some of my teeth cleaning. So when she comes for her appointment it won't be so overwelming.
