The Kirwin Group is licensed to perform Truth-in-Housing inspections throughout the state of Minnesota. Truth-in-Housing inspections are meant to inform the buyer and seller of a home, prior to the sale, of any major structural defects or hazards to the health and safety of the occupants. Truth-in-Housing inspections often identify repairs that are required based on city ordinance.
You can save yourself some time and money by having the following items done before we arrive to conduct your Minneapolis Truth-in-Housing inspection. Make sure you have a working smoke detector on each level of the home, including the basement. These can be cheap, battery-powered detectors which often cost $5 or less.

We really liked Greg. He took the time to explain how everything worked and what he was looking for during the inspection. The final report was very detailed with recommendations as to when we should review and/or replace some of the items being inspected.

Very personable, and apologized profusely for running late due to the inspection before us. He added humor to the inspection and made us feel like we knew him for years. He explained any issues or questions that he came across thoroughly. Finally our inspection report was delivered to us just 5 hours after our inspection. Dave inspected not one, but two houses we were interested in. The first one fell though after some moisture issues with the stucco siding and then we ended up purchasing the following house he inspected for us. Dave is professional, knowledgably, asks and answers all the right questions. I would both strongly recommend him as well as use him again.

Dave was very knowledgeable, detail-oriented in his inspection and did not talk down to me when answering my questions. Very down-to-earth guy. We had Dave Kirwin inspect ours have a few months ago. We are first time home buyers and Dave did a great job walking us through the process and putting our minds at ease. It was the middle of winter (fortunately no snow at that point) and Dave still got up on the roof to check it out. Dave was the model of efficiency moving quickly through the house and looking in every crack and corner. He found a few things that we took back and tried to get a little more money off the house. It was all done quickly and Dave gave us a nice big book about home ownership. It is impossible to catch everything

Like other reviewers here, I whole-heartedly recommend The Kirwin Group for your house inspection. Working with Kirwin Group was an excellent experience! Once our realtor told us we have only 8 days to complete the inspection we had to start moving quickly. I contacted Dave via email and received a response within a hour with his availability. We were able to get the inspection scheduled and I was able to be present during the entire process. Dave pointed out everything to me and was very thorough. We were able to decide on the day of if we wanted to test for radon and we opted to do so.

The Kirwin Group was referred to us by my sister and brother in law, and they described the experience as amazing. But how good can a home inspection really get? Dave Kirwin inspected our home today and the experience was fantastic! He took extra time to explain various features and details of our future home, provided guidance regarding things to watch out for, and was extremely fast (within hours of our inspection) in providing a detailed report and photos.
