Services
Dr. Carly Rose was born and raised in the Greater Cincinnati area. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northern Kentucky University. Following graduation, she decided to experience city living and moved to Chicago in optometry school. When not learning about eyes, Dr. Rose spent much of those four years enjoying all of the food Chicago had to offer!
Ocular surface disease is persistent and progressive, and it affects vision and quality of life for so many patients. In my practice, the goal is to get ahead of the problem early, when treatment is most effective. When I read all the science behind Optima IPL, I realized that to improve the ocular surface, I needed it to cut off the root cause of the problem: inflammation.
At Eyecare on the Square, we believe that yearly comprehensive eye exams are fundamental in maintaining healthy and efficient vision. We aim to prevent eye diseases, therefore preserving sight. During this exam, we check for your most up to date prescriptions and can have discussions about what specialty lenses may work for your lifestyle.
Dry Eye is more than an uncomfortable condition. It is a chronic, progressive eye disorder with treatment options. At Eyecare on the Square, we passionately and aggressively treat dry eye. The majority of the cause of dry eye is inflammation in the oil glands (meibomian glands) of the eyelids. This inflammation leads to blockage of oil production, which leads to eventual oil gland destruction.
The lipiscan is a camera to capture a picture of your meibomian glands. The meibomian glands are the oil glands in your eyelids that make the oil portion of the tears. This part of the eye accounts for at least 85% of all dry eye disease! We started incorporating this imaging on every yearly exam for patients 18 and over.

Dr. Rose has been so helpful with my dry eye problems. She has many options to help and always explains everything really well. Her staff are very friendly. I’m really glad I found them because other eye care doctors have not been as helpful or educational about my condition.

Absolutely the NICEST staff I have ever dealt with. Everyone was so helpful and actually cared about my issue. Also, they got me in for an appointment on a rush which is almost impossible in this city. As a self pay client, I felt comfortable and very understood. They had my best interest in mind - not just a dollar to make. When I say, I highly recommend this office and their staff, I mean that with my whole heart.

Disappointed with the surprise payments and the teams response of “well we told you buried in the paper work you signed”. I had two surprise payments in one visit which could have been better managed by proactive dialogue. Once I raised, I was told I will continue to receive bills with no accountability or understanding. All in all it felt unprofessional and is an outlier in all my years as a consumer in the health care system across many, many providers.

I absolutely love the care the staff extends to their patients. I always feel like I received excellent care, and I don't worry about my eye health until my next check up. Plus if my prescription has not changed much, they do not force new glasses on me. 👍👍👍

Dr. Burk is outstanding! He is very attentive and caring towards those that are considered elderly. His customer care and attentiveness makes it a wonderful visit. We will definitely be back to Dr. Burk. I experienced him first at the Kenwood location and sought to find him so my husband could have his Yearly examine. Dr. Burk were singing your praises!
