We are an Ashtanga Yoga School dedicated to sharing yoga in the lineage of Sri K Pattabhi Jois and the teachings of our teacher, David Garrigues, who continually offers rich contributions towards the preservation of traditional Ashtanga Yoga. It is our belief that this regular practice unlocks new understandings that lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
We offer three different ways to learn Ashtanga yoga at our school. We encourage you to consider trying all of the methods of learning as each style supports the practice differently. Start anytime - just register via our class calendar and come! Learning Ashtanga yoga Mysore style is the best way to learn yoga and is appropriate for ALL levels because it's tailored to you!
What is Ashtanga Yoga? Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic yoga practice based on vinysa which synchronizes breath with movement to develop strength, flexibility, concentration and to improve overall health. Overtime when the yoga positions are preformed combined with proper breathing techniques, sensory management and self-awareness are developed and enhanced.
Our memberships include unlimited access to pre-recorded audio and video classes for your personal use. You can access these classes anytime and enjoy a led class from our teachers from the comfort of your home. Our library includes guided Ashtanga yoga, pranayama and meditation classes, Bhagavad Gita study group, and community talks.
Traditionally moon days are days observed for rest in the Ashtanga lineage. Like the ocean tides, and all things of a watery nature (human beings are about 70% water), we are affected by the phases of the moon. In yoga, the full moon energy corresponds to the end of inhalation when the force of prana is greatest.
