Our classes strive to prepare each of our students for a lifetime of success, both on and off the mats. All of our programs are designed to instruct self-defense, build self-confidence, improve coordination, improve social skills, instill a strong set of values, and teach kids how to become "bully proof", all in a safe and fun environment.

I first met Papalegua at my local YMCA to learn capoeira as I thought it would be a good way for me to lose weight and to expose my son to an art that would develop his spirit and soul through rhythm and dance. After Papalegua opened his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Capoeira studio, Ribiero Eastlake, I decided to enroll both me and my son. I had a personal goal of bonding with my son through the art of Capoeira and Brazilian jiu jitsu. But what started out as a bonding experience with my son has turned into a whole lot more. My beautiful wife already left a review for our son who is enrolled in the youth program so mine will focus on the adult. The academy is literally made for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Capoeira. The school is of good size and space for learning...not too big so you are lost in a sea of students and not too small so you don't have areas for application of instruction. There is ample space for storage of personal belongings with individual spaces for street clothes and a clean bathroom area if you prefer a private area to change. The instruction is amazing.
