Conscious Acupuncture is a term to describe a real time approach to point selection developed by blind Japanese acupuncturists of the Meiji Era who relied upon touch to diagnose conditions and verify points. Individuals who have had typical forms of acupuncture will immediately discern the difference involved with the hands on approach of Japanese acupuncture.
Conscious Acupuncture might sound like an invitation to woo-woo, but it isn't. It has to do with selecting points based upon feedback from the body. This feedback is established by sites of tenderness or pain and the points that diminish or eliminate tenderness and pain. Specific conditions are the branch of a particular root that requires detection.

Don't waste your time. Here was my experience with this guy, and I'm only sharing this review because of the absolute hassle this guy gave me over the phone before a follow-up appointment, and when he told me to come see him for a second session, and then promptly decided that he was refunding my money and couldn't work with me.
I've had a fair amount of acupuncture, one of my good friends is an acupuncturist, but I saw his good reviews and that Yelp was offering a coupon for $75 worth of value at the small business for $50. I called ahead and asked his rates. He said it was

Yang-chu at CCC is the best acupuncturist I've ever been to. What he did for me after my doctors' failure to help me but offer medication, was incredible. For days, I could barely get out of bed or sit or walk from an intense sciatica nerve pain I got after lifting. After three sessions in a week's time, I could do all those things more comfortably and now a week later I'm back to normal. When I lived in NYC, for sports injuries, I went Chinatown to older, very experienced acupuncturists, they were good, but none were as thorough as Yang-chu was with me. I highly recommend

I highly recommend CCC. I have never been examined so well and felt so listened to. I'm a first timer to acupuncture, so I have no frame of reference, but watching YC work is like a cross between Mary Poppins pulling stuff out of her bag and MacGyver solving the problem of my aches and pains.
I searched out YC to help manage pain due to failed back surgery(L5S1) herniated disc. However, after some time, YC discovered that my pain actually originated from my psoas, hip flexors and is triggered/exasperated by stress and PTSD. Now with the right treatment and herbs I am getting my life back

On the first week of treatment, Dr. Higgins put some seeds in my ear and at the end of the week he called to check in with me. He asked how I was feeling and asked about my mood specifically. I gave him my input and as soon as I was done talking to him I turned to my boyfriend and asked if he had noticed anything with my mood. My boyfriend couldn't have given a better answer in this case, "whatever he's doing tell him to keep doing it". And this has been exactly how I felt for the duration of my treatment. I believe and trust his approach using Chinese medicine. It has truly

Dr. Yang-chu provides a high quality of care that considers your total well-being including the physical, spiritual, and emotional contributors to your health. Working with someone who understands and treats the underlying causes of your health issues is a wonderful revelation. It's definitely the best holistic care I've ever received, but it's definitely not for everyone. If you're looking for a quick fix, or a western based approach that focuses only on symptoms, then you're probably better off elsewhere. However, if you're serious and would like to gain a new level

I came to Yang Chu after years of chronic pain, digestive disturbance, fatigue, and skin issues. I had tried many different approaches, from Western medicine to complementary/holistic medicine, as well as other Chinese medicine practitioners, but found that my issues always persisted. More than any other practitioner I've worked with, Yang Chu treated me as a whole person rather than an array of symptoms in isolation. He is observant, skilled, and experienced. He is generous with his time and he does what it takes to help his patients heal the root cause of illness and pain. My time with him

My experience was different than those I've read about on Yelp.
I first saw Yang-Chu for a free consultation and was cautiously optimistic. I told him about my excruciating nerve and tailbone pain, my insomnia, that I'm unable to lie on my back or sit without extreme pain...I cried a lot, especially when he said he knew he could help me. My friend, who usually drives me to my appointments, was leaving for a long vacation, so I was anxious to get some relief before his trip. Feeling desperate, I decided to go for it and paid for 6 sessions up front.

After being failed by Western medicine the approach to healing at California Community Center for Acupuncture is refreshing. Yang-Chu's bedside manner is very comforting and yet professional. His treatments are not just acupuncture either, he also draws from other Chinese medicine traditions like tea and herbs. I recommend his services to anyone looking for an alternative to main stream American medical.

I am sorry to say I had a very awkward phone interaction just now with a member of this business which made me highly uncomfortable. I am hoping this was not Yang Chu who everyone has spoken of very highly on here. The person who answered the phone was vague and shady about every question I asked - I was unable to get a straight answer on any of my basic questions, from how much a treatment would cost, to how long the treatment would be. When I asked him how long the treatment would last, without an explanation the person told me to look else where for a treatment. When asked what was wrong, he

Yang Chu knows his stuff and has incredible attention to detail. He's been always spot on in his diagnostics and I can tell from the questions he asks that he's not merely relying on intuition, but the root causes of a deficiency/imbalance. I'm always impressed on how he continues to learn and elevate his practice each time I arrive. I'd highly recommend him for acupuncture if you're here in this area.

I was referred to Yang Chu after I had a little fender bender (bender tender? What's the term?) last year and was experiencing whip lash. Now I return to Yang Chu whenever I'm feeling any kind of ailments. My most recent visit was due to one of the most painful tensions in my back. I woke up on a Monday morning with extreme pain in what felt like my left shoulder blade. The pain only got worse so by Wednesday I got a 90 minute massage thinking that it would do the trick. Though relaxing, a couple hours later the pain returned stronger than ever. As I'm not a fan of medication like

I went to see Yang-chu at the advice of a good friend who has sworn by his treatments for the past several years. I found him to be a true healer with an uncanny knack for being able to accurately read people (i.e., me) and provide an accurate diagnosis. He is very mellow and approachable with a deep passion for healing. After just one session, I already started showing remarkable results with a noticeable lessening of my chronic neck pain. He offers honest and genuine advice and is not pushy about "upselling" treatments or medicines. I am recommending him to everyone I know who wants
