I am a Licensed Professional Counselor trained in several trauma resolution models. My style is eclectic and client-centered with a goal of creating a safe place to help you live the best life for you.
For therapy to work, clients are expected to be open and honest so I can assist you with your goals. Counseling is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for an active effort on your part. In order for therapy to be most successful, you are encouraged to work on things talked about both during your sessions and at home.

My name is Kristen Burnsmith and I graduated from Ottawa University in 2014 with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling with a focus on Trauma, Abuse and Deprivation. My style is eclectic and client-centered with a goal of creating a safe place to help you live the best life for you.
I believe everyone has the ability to heal and that the right therapist can help you experience and recognize your true self so you can start enjoying a life filled with joy, passion and love.I specialize in working with people who are struggling with LGBTQIA+ issues, anxiety, depression, trauma of all kinds, addictions and relational issues.

All clients voluntarily agree to treatment. Counseling involves a large commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be thoughtful about the treatment you select. In the first couple of sessions, you should be deciding whether you feel I am a good fit for you. If you feel it is not a good match I will be happy to assist you in finding a new clinician.
Not at this time, however I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit for out of network benefits. I work with individuals age 18+.
