We hired Flatrate to move us within Westchester. The only smooth part of the process was the virtual walkthrough price assessment. After that, everything went downhill. Communication has been absolutely horrendous with no followup on questions or complaints.
Primary screw-up was that flatrate forgot to send packers the day before our move. We paid for the company to pack us up. Initially, we had asked if it would be possible to move and pack on the same day, but were told it was not possible because there was too much stuff. Understandable. So, I had to cancel all of my scheduled appointments

Can we give a no stars rating? Our items were returned to us in unusable condition and certainly not the condition we provided them in. The mattresses and furniture had severe water damage and mold and must be replaced. No one advised us of this prior to the delivery. It is unacceptable and unprofessional that we paid the move out, storage and move in costs and have to discard the items, incurring not only the costs paid to but replacement costs as well. Any reasonable person using a storage company would assume that items would be safe from such damage. To make matters worse

Run away from FlatRate!!! Hire them at the peril of your possessions and belongings. We hired them for a coast-to-coast move. Full service. They packed and moved everything. Unfortunately, upon delivery nearly every single item was damaged or destroyed -- the entire contents of our home. Packing, no less professional packing, was non-existent. Breakable objects were simply placed in a cardboard box with no cushioning and along with various other unprotected items. Flatscreen TVs and computer monitors had paper draped over them as protection, gouging and irreparably damaging the screens. Boxes arrived

DON'T EVER USE FLATRATE, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! Flatrate's movers DAMAGED OUR FLOORS moving us out of our apartment. The floor was gouged out and scraped in several places. We immediately pointed this out to the movers when it happened, and they acknowledged they were careless and damaged the floors. The movers told us to contact Flatrate to get a reimbursement for the damage. As expected, WE LOST PART OF OUR SECURITY DEPOSIT to the landlord to repair the damage to the floors. STAY AWAY!! These guys are complete crooks. I spent $10K on a move including storage fees. We had tables, antiques and lamps broken/damaged. Everyone is very nice when booking but when it came time to file a claim -- at first they accepted it, but it has now been 2 months of calls, follow up emails, asking for managers... I reached out to literally everyone but nobody calls back (try it -- call the customer service number 8667669858 and you will encounter a voicemail which is a black hole). So when you call sales they pick up promptly, but when you have a problem customer service will not call

Local NYC/NYS review: 4 stars, great service, assuming you have nothing of high value/precious. We moved from apt to apt to house and storage unit and such, used 3x, and had good experiences. Be prepared for lots and lots of plastic wrap, which is a bummer. Reviewers mention they put random things together - completely true. If this is important to you, this is not the right company. if you just want someone to come in, pack your stuff, and move it to the next place quickly, this is fine. They are pretty

A truly terrible move experience. We paid them to pack, move and unbox our items and they did each part quite badly. They packed random things together and broke half of our china. They put cleaning chemicals with food, fragile glass with wooden boxes. When moving, they banged up the walls, scuffed the floors and damaged our furniture. They also REFUSED to unpack our boxes and said they were too busy. I wish I had just sold my furniture and started fresh vs. using this awful company.

I used Flat Rate movers to move from our 4 bedroom home to our new home - about 10 minutes away. It was a large move with 2 trucks and 8 men.
Flat rate showed up early, did a good job packing up everything and protecting it.
However, there was some problems with some of the furniture. They assembled my king size bed without a support. They said it was missing when they took it apart. I complained and then all of a sudden it was found in the truck. What if I wasn't there to watch? We found that they took apart the rails on one of my drawers in my dresser and just shoved it back

DO NOT move with FlatRate if you care about your belongings. They were totally careless with our things and ended up breaking our bed and losing the legs (rendering it unusable), damaging our solid wood dresser, and making multiple deep scratches on our wooden floor. On top of that, they FORGED my signature on the insurance coverage section to make it look like I agreed to the lower coverage policy, and then paid for only 5% of the cost of the bed. These guys are the worst kind of shysters, and they don't have any concept of customer service. Terrible workers, and and even worse claims

We hope we can save others from having the nightmare experience we had with Flatrate. Ours was a three step move. Out of one house, into their storage facility and then to Colorado. We have paid this company almost 30k. When the truck arrived in Colorado we were told they couldn’t fit all of our things on the truck so it was left behind in Maryland. We never received any warning in advance. So needless to say we were missing bed frames, bolts for bed frames we had were missing not to mention the extensive damage to our furniture. We were lied to about the storage facility. It was not climate
