I started private yoga lessons with Sydney because I was looking for a way to stop years of severe neck, shoulder and lower back pain occurring 1-3 times every year. Ten years ago, while having neck pain bad enough to require help putting on my shirt, I had my first lesson. The pain stopped over a short period of time.

Prior to that, I got my BFA in dance from the University of Illinois. My teaching style is dynamic. I incorporate the alignment, pranayama and philosophy of Yogi Raj Alan Finger's Ishta System with the flowing movement of Vinyasa. My students know me for my elegant sequencing and ability to break down postures into their essential elements.

Avita Yoga is a methodology that gently identifies restrictions impeding the body's natural potential for freedom of movement, while simultaneously providing the mode to resolve them. The very definition of yoga written in the Yoga Sutras over two thousand years ago is the identification and removal of the obstacles that limit our potential in body and mind.

The BEST yoga studio! Excellent instructors, peaceful environment and good variety of classes. The instructors are well-trained and will encourage deeper practice, yet will give modifications if you want.
This is by far the best studio I've ever found even after taking in Mpls, NY and Chicago.
I appreciate that I feel welcomed each time I visit. You won't be disappointed.

Sydney the owner is an extremely talented yoga teacher. She teaches mostly Vinyasa flow type classes where each pose flows effortlessly into the next. She is friendly and warm and the studio is beautifully appointed. There are beginner classes here as well as advanced. If you are a serious yogi you will want to check out her advanced classes they are the most challenging you will find in the metro. Love this studio and the people who attend here.

After a 1+ off from yoga (due to injury) I returned to yoga. I attended Sydney's Vinyasa class which was a awesome experience. I've been to many of Sydney's classes when the studio was under another name -- and she continues to provide a challenge, guidance and technique. I'll return. Oh, and I'm not sore today :-)
