Professor Carlos Farias, or "Coach Carlos" as he is called by many of his students, is a 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt with nearly 12 years of teaching experience. After years of teaching at various Mixed Martial Arts academies, Carlos and the Farias Jiu Jitsu family proudly opened Farias Jiu Jitsu academy in Mesa, Arizona in 2013.
In addition to teaching full-time, Carlos Farias is an active and renowned competitor, and currently holds a variety of Black Belt Ultra Heavyweight titles. He is a Champion both on and off the mat, and tirelessly strives to instill his same commitment to excellence, dedication, and sportsmanship in his students, ranging in age from 5 to 60+.

Just started my first day + lesson here, really recommend it so far! You get a free week and they do a family deal where the 2nd person gets the monthly fee at half the cost! The instructors are very flexible with each person as well as patient. They can always answer your questions and I learned 5 new moves on my FIRST day!!

Moved to AZ in June and wanted to find a place to train. Carlos Farias gym is a family run business and the atmosphere there shows it. When I called for information, Carlos wife was there on the phone to answer all and any questions I had. The instruction that you receive is top notch and all the people are very welcoming. I can’t say enough how great this place really is. If you are looking for a safe and positive place to train you have to give Carlos Farias gym a shot.

I've been coming here a few months and love it. Carlos has a great kids program and my daughter loves the environment, plus there are plenty of knowledgeable people here to train with. It truly is one of the best, it not the best bjj gyms I've ever trained at, and I've trained at quite a few in my life. I've came to love it here and found a 2nd home, I've been treated like family since day 1 and I dont see myself leaving anytime soon. The instruction is excellent, classes are fun and the environment is super relaxed. I would hands down recommend coming here if you wanna train bjj.

The owners are so friendly and welcoming. It's a really positive environment and my kids love going here! The instructors are awesome! Coach Carlos and Coach Rick are so great with kids! Actually all the coaches are amazing. My kids get access to so much support and knowledge training here. They have improved so much after coming here! I'm so glad I researched and found a quality jiu jitsu gym!

I have been with Carlos for over two years now and it has been the best decision of my life! I have learned SO much coming in as a beginner, and so have my three children! We couldn’t ask for a better place to be to learn BJJ! My children beg to go see him and Ric everyday! This is a family we never knew we had, and we love everyone so much! Thanks for everything! Carlos and his wife Marisa are extremely friendly and take pride in keeping their gym spotless. Carlos (who is there all day, EVERYDAY) is a world class instructor AND competitor. All the other students, no matter what color belt/rank, are very friendly and helpful.
If you are wanting to try BJJ out, give this place a try! You will be happy you did!!

After listening to Jocko's podcast I wanted to try a few different Jiu Jitsu places out with this being the first one on the list. I walked in on a Saturday just to watch the 10:30 AM class and see what it was about. Upon walking in Carlos's wife Melissa was there to introduce herself and the coach that would be teaching for the week. They even let me join the class that day. Ricky is an excellent coach and brown belt in Jiu Jitsu, really love his style, knowledge and willingness to help others and answer any questions before, during or after class. I am already obsessed with the process

I love this gym! My son has been training with Professor Carlos for over 6 years. Carlos is an amazing coach! He is very knowledgeable and I love the fact that he still competes. It is a close knit group who welcomes new comers with open arms. If you are considering trying jui-jitsu or looking for a new gym I can not recommend Carlos Farias BJJ highly enough!

The reviews by "Ninja" and "fornite beast" are inaccurate and incorrect. The school did flood, however, the owners did everything they could to remedy the situation and had the school back open in a week. My kids and I have been going here since June and we all love it. The coaches are patient and kind. The amount of confidence they have instilled in my 6 year old twins is amazing. I would recommend anyone to bring their kids and themselves to try it out. Carlos and Marissa are amazing at what they do. Please do not let one disgruntled child prevent you from giving this wonderful business a chance

World class training with a world class instructor. Carlos Farias has done a great job of making jiu jitsu accessible to everyone. He reviews techniques if you have questions, goes over strong fundamentals in class, and has a variety of training times throughout the day. You see his dedication when he shows up everyday to teach and train his students to be the best. Other students at his gym are very friendly.

I currently train under Paris who is a student of Professor Carlos Farias and I have went to open mat at CFBJJ and have to say it was a great atmosphere. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. If you want some some world class Jiu-Jitsu training then I would highly recommend training under Professor Carlos Farias.

I moved from California in May of 2015 and wanted to find a good place to train. I had visited a few other local gyms to see which one fit my particular needs. When I went in to check out Carlos Farias Jiu Jitsu I felt right away like this is the place I would want to train. His wife so friendly and gave me a really good description of the training and more importantly, the family like atmosphere.

I have trained for roughly 3.5 years and have found Carlos style and methods highly effective. He is humble and makes sure that you understand the core of any technique. He is also a competitor in both the National and international circuit. This leads his instruction to remain very relevant in both the sport and art of jiu-jitsu. You will not be disappointed.

Moved out here (mesa) from phoenix was hesitant to find a new bjj school closer to home. I am beyond happy I did. Carlos Farias team is Very friendly and I was welcomed in like family! Carlos is very one on one in training he is a active competitor along with his students and he pushes you to you limits in training. Definitely give him a try and would recommend this school to every and anyone!
