Educated at the University of California, Berkeley, and having completed a residency program at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs hospital in primary care, Dr. Cheung brings over twelve years of experience to Southwest Eye Care. This experience includes LASIK evaluations, recent onset red eye, diabetic exams, children's first eye exams, treating glaucoma, and contact lens fittings.

A professional and courteous staff with a dedication to thorough & excellent eye care (with Dr. Vance) for the past +4 yrs including glaucoma screenings, prompt & personalized consultations, more contact lens options (compared to Costco optical) and a great selection of quality glasses, sunglasses (including luxury brands) and related products.

Would and will not use again. Selection is minimal on frames. Eye exam was not very accurate even though the facility did try and remake the lenses once learning that the original prescription was no good. But whatever facility is making this companies eyeglasses is not very good in my experience and I will not recommend them to anyone and have been letting anyone know of my experience.

I took my daughter here for her very first in depth eye exam. The doctor is very good with kids and the appointment was fast and efficient. The only two things that I see can improve are their eye glass selection for kids and perhaps having more economical eye glasses for those of us without insurance.

Went in today to get new glasses, I was treated great, the lady on the phone that made my appointment was nice and friendly. When I got to the office they were fast and professional. The young lady helping pick out my glasses was great to work with. I don't give to many good reviews, but this place was 5 stars all the way.

Dr Vance girl once again You're Amazing!!! My son and I were overdue for our exams and as most businesses have been closed we had to get scheduled later...This was our first venture into a medical office since before the lockdown let's call it. Also love her assistants funny girls with great sense of humors!!! (Very important to me lol) Everyone had masks on, social distancing in check, staff amazing as always and Dr. Vance (our favorite) Lol sorry had to say it my sons loveher and i agree with them!! I switched eye doctors. They got me quickly. I actually used Yelp reviews to go to this location, I'm glad I did. Staff is amazing. They find out exactly what you need. I got my glasses quickly. My glasses broke and I was going out of town, they were able to get me with contacts that day I went in. Amazing!

I had a great experience, I had an appointment during my lunch break and was in and out in enough time to grab some food on my way back to work. They have a great selection of frames and are very helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. They are also very thorough with their eye tests I've never had any issues with my prescription since going to them.

I had another great experience at Southwest Eye Care yesterday. My eye had been bothering me for 24 hours and so I called the office at 3pm. The receptionist told me to come immediately to be checked out, even though it was late in the day and right before a 4-day weekend. My regular optometrist was not there and so I was seen by Dr Mark Cheung. I liked him very much! He was friendly, gave a thorough exam and diagnosed me quickly. I was sent home with a prescription and a free sample of an expensive medication to try out. Today my eye is starting to feel better thanks to the great care I received

Our whole family is taken care of by Dr Vance. She's very good with the kids and it's clear that she loves what she does.
My brother was grinding at work without safety goggles (not the brightest bulb) and got a piece of metal stuck in his eye. After a few days of "letting it work its way out" he decided that he needed help. Dr Vance dropped what she was doing and met him at the office, on her day off, to remove the rusted piece of metal. Now he wears goggles every time he's grinding and listens to his much handsomer, very wise brother.

This review is for Lasik.... I was very interested in getting Lasik this year and once my income taxes came in it was a for sure deal! It would be a nice down payment. I researched any discounts that my vision plan had and sure enough this was the only establishment in bakersfield that provided any. I would get a 15% discount through vsp. My total cost would be 4900.00 Ouch I know, but it was a well worth investment for myself.

Very professional eye care here, nice staff and doctors. The only problem they continue to have is waiting time, before and after your appointment is over; you have to check-out on the way out. I always end up being here longer than I expect. You're definitely going to receive great care here, but I would suggest you blocking out some time for this appointment.

Been to many optometrist offices , this was definitely one of the worst . Lacks the personal feel. Brianna is gal who does pretests, she's very robotic, had zero personality. I had to ask her to repeat herself because I didn't understand what she was saying due to her being so scripted. Not to mention had to wait over 20 mins in the optometrist chair just waiting for doc to come in. First and last time going to this place. 2 thumbs down

I had been dealing with a Chalazion for several months now and decided to see an eye Dr. I found an optometrist out towards my side of town, Southwest Eye Care and Laser. I stopped by for a consultation with Dr. Kaprielian and Dr Stainer. Dr Stainer and ALL of the staff were VERY professional and very caring. They went above and beyond of my expectations. I had that awful Chalazion removed in a matter of minutes. I was extremely pleased with their services. I really do recommend Southwest Eye Care and Laser to everybody.
