Good: They’re friendly
Bad:
1. They rush through the process. I asked why everything was so urgent and the assistant literally said I’m trying to break my record time. 😔
2. The frames are ridiculously overpriced. I understand this is a business and mark up is necessary, but this is financial r***.
3. I was told that there is no official return policy, so it’s to there discretion. They will not return lenses after purchase. If you want that go to Warby Parker or any other Eye Care Facility.
In summary, if you still choose this place, make sure you attempt to slow down the process so

I found this location based off of a google search and I am so thankful I did. Dr. Lappen was amazingly friendly and informative during my appointment. Additionally, Mandy and Linda were incredibly helpful with not only helping me understand my insurance (I'm a 24 year-old student who gets insurance through the gov't and it rarely makes sense to me) but also in finding new frames. They pulled out frames that fit perfectly to the description I explained and even helped me narrow them down to decide on the perfect pair for me. Purchasers beware! Do not shop at this store!!! 75% of their frames are discounted styles from 4+ years ago from when they bought out Optical Outlet. They are now selling those frames for much higher than retail hoping people won't notice. I bought Ray Bans last year for $302 (plus lens costs) and found out immediately after that the Ray Ban retail on those exact glasses was $178. I caution anyone to shop here, as they are scammers and offer excuses as to why the frames are so much higher.

I'm usually annoyingly picky about my frames, but the selection at this store is incredible. I usually find two, rarely three, frames that 'work' and pick one. At Lappen, I think I found 6 or 7, and couldn't help but leave with two frames. I definitely know where I'm shopping for glasses in the future. They are a little slow about adding prescription lenses, but who cares when I'll be wearing them the next 2 years or so.

Maxine and the staff at Optical Outlet are very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They offer good advice to help you find the right pair of eyeglasses. Should something not work out -- as it did in our case -- they continue to try to satisfy you and in our case they ordered us new lenses free of charge. Also, their prices were well below the other optical places we visited as well. Thumbs up.

Loved the variety of sunglasses and the price point back in the winter/early spring of 2015. Picked out a beautiful pair of Versace sunglasses. When they finally arrived, I came in to pick them up and get them sized. After about a week of wearing them, I was unhappy with the fit so I came in again for resizing. At this time, they completely ruined the acrylic by soaking them too long (or whatever the procedure is) and my new sunglasses were bubbled and ruined. I had a great experience at Optical Outlet. I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes early and had no delay in seeing the optometrist. Dr. Ellen Lebow was friendly, professional, and very thorough. She gave me some important tips about protecting my vision -- information that previous eye doctors had not shared with me. After the eye exam, I browsed the selection of frames and found the staff and the owner to be extraordinarily helpful and accommodating.

This is the place to go to if you need new glasses. Both Linda and Suzie are incredibly helpful- they spent so long with me - suggesting different frames, giving feedback on which ones looked best, etc. Once I selected my frames, they came in within 3 days. Their prices are definitely the best around. I can't stop raving about this place and the experience I had there.

This place is wonderful. The doctor was knowledgeable and kind, and the ladies in the shop helped me pick out frames by looking at every rack, having me try on different ones, and giving me their honest opinions. It was a fantastic experience and it'll definitely continue to be my only optometry stop while I'm in Pittsburgh!
