Richard Sholts is a 1980 graduate of Purdue University. Following graduation, he moved to the northwest suburbs from Indiana and worked at Golf-Rose Animal Hospital, until opening Forest View Animal Hospital in 1984. His philosophy has always been "Patients come First" and to provide the best veterinary care possible at an affordable cost.
Forest View Animal Hospital is fully licensed and prepared to offer a complete range of veterinary services for small animals. Your pet is an important part of your family, and when he or she is ill, you want the best medical care available. Preventive veterinary care is the cornerstone of keeping your pet their healthiest so that you and your pet can have more great years together.
In order to maintain our high standard of service, we require that payment be made at the time services are rendered. We provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges. Forest View Animal Hospital is happy to accept Cash, Check, Major Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), Scratchpay and CareCredit.
Dr Sholts and his entire staff have been absolutely fantastic in caring for our various dogs! Dr. Sholts, for the past THIRTY years or very close to 30 years! Currently it's with our most recent dogs, 9 year old Millie and her 9 year old sister Molly. Various health issues have popped up recently for these 2 and it is certainly a piece of mind knowing that they're in very good hands.
Put your knowledge and compassion into practice! From doctors to practice managers to support staff, we're looking for great people to help run our practice. We look for all levels of veterinarians and technicians. We offer excellent benefits like a competitive salary, development opportunities and other tools to help you thrive in your career.

I brought my recently adopted dog in for a preliminary examination.
On the plus side the scheduling is efficient and wait times are short. The veterinary assistants and one of the people behind the reception who initially interact with your pet (and the pet's caregiver) are friendly and helpful. The vet is very friendly and really tries to get to know the animal and clearly enjoys his work.
On the minus side is that the whole visit was completely useless. I told the scheduling assisitant that the shelter had mentioned a couple of things that needed to be checked with a stool sample. Since my

All that matters to this clinic is the bottom line. Forget about patient loyalty and empathy towards pet owners and helping to make a most difficult situation a little bit easier as the loss of a pet is drawing near.
When your pet is sick and dying (my dog was a patient here for 16.5 years) they quickly showed me to the door with no empathy or compassion. Their end of life protocol is appalling. My 16.5 years of being a loyal patient meant absolutely nothing when it came down to my time of need in trying to help my dog when she was sick, and ultimately dying, and asking for two weeks to be seen

Now Forest View has just added Dr. Gus who is so deeply knowledgeable and caring. Our new kitten was not eating much for about a week last year. We took him to another hospital twice and they could not figure out why but charged us for both treatments. We finally found Forest View. Dr. Gus told us exactly what happened and what was the most effective and affordable way to treat our baby boy. Dr. Gus also shared with us valuable information about cats nutrition, behaviors, and health. This is a very professional place to get your pets the best care.
