At Deer Grove Animal Hospital in Palatine, IL, our Veterinarian takes the time to do a head to tail consultation to ensure your pet is in great health! Laser light intermingling with tissue is a special approach to surgery. The laser uses a highly focused laser beam which efficiently ablates the living tissue and seals capillaries, small blood vessels, lymphatics and nerve endings.
This is beneficial to both the patient and surgeon because there is less pain than using a traditional scalpel, less bleeding, less inflammation and better tissue healing. Since the laser seals the nerve endings when it cuts, it also decreases post op pain as well. The risk of post op infection is also reduced as the heat from the laser destroy any bacteria present on the tissues during surgery.

We love Dr. Flahaven and the staff at Deer Grove! Dr. Flahaven has been so wonderful to both of my dogs my one who passed and our newest family member. When my Charlie was getting to the end of his life and was often sick he did so much to help us and made time to fit us in to ensure Charlie was taken care of. I recommend Deer Grove to anyone who asks me!

Dr. Mark is a great person and an amazing doctor to my puppy Groot! Groot has had a rough first year with his health, and Dr. Mark is always available to treat him. He has accepted us emergent post 6 pm walk-ins and stayed late to treat our puppy more than once. As new pet parents he takes the time to guide us so that we can keep Groot healthy.
His clinic and staff are always available in times of emergency. Our calls are always returned in a timely fashion.
We trust Dr. Mark with our puppy and feel so lucky to have found him!

Mark, I hope your good conscience will guide you to do the right thing for Marlene. Your negligence has caused the sudden loss of her new puppy. It’s caused her tremendously heartaches. Your lying and unethical behavior and your wife’s treatment of Marlene in the aftermath have worsen her suffering. We all make mistakes. As humans, we need to put ourselves in the others position in order for us get a glimpse of how they feel. Empathy and compassion are very healing for the victims and their counterparts. I implore you to do the right thing. What you’re doing is not ethical and will cause

We too thought Mark was a good vet until our puppy died due to his neglect. He checked her out and then gave our puppy her Parvo vaccine. We went home and later that afternoon noticed she was lethargic, so called to see if this was normal, they were closed, so called the emergency vet they offered on the phone. Emergency vet said keep an eye on her, maybe she had a fever. Next morning 6am when she woke I noticed her breathing was heavier. Vet was closed and he never even called me back. Called emergency vet again and they said bring her right in. We did, she died on the way. Called him the next

Our problem with this vet is that he made a mistake and cost our puppy her life. If he was ethical and had some courage he would accept this, but he chooses to lie. The truth will come out Mark. We forgive the mistake because you are only human, but we cannot forgive the blatant lie you told
to your insurance company. You were vulnerable and upset enough the day she died and admitted you were negligent, why after 2 weeks has your story changed? Is it because we asked for you to help us pay for a new puppy, when we are ready to try again? Is this not fair? Why does your wife hang up on us? I now

An admired member of the Barrington community took their new puppy to this vet only for the puppy to die the next day from the vet's actions. The vet lied to protect themselves from insurance ramifications, when all they had to do was be transparent. Now they hid from the community member. Frankly these actions are nothing less than creepy

The veterinarian is the best of the best of the best! He handled both of our cats with ease, which no one was ever able to do. Our older cat bites and scratches anyone that's new and he was able to calm him down in a sec. The shots he gave to our cats didn't even hurt them and he did a complementary ear cleaning. He also gave us great advice on the things to buy for them and how to best take great care of our two beautiful ones. Let's just say he is one cool cat. Deer Grove Animal hospital is top notch and without a doubt the greatest animal hospital in the State.

We've been coming to Deer Grove Animal Hospital for about a year now and couldn't be happier. Every person we've worked with has been kind, helpful and willing to answer any questions we have. They treat our pets well and we always feel good after leaving their office. We've called them a couple of times with some questions regarding treatments, and never have we felt rushed or like we were burdening them. They've answered every question honestly and detailed and made sure we felt confident with the plan moving forward. We couldn't recommend Deer Grove Animal Hospital higher for those looking for

We were not happy with our previous vet, so after some thorough research, I decided to bring my dog here. The reviews were great, and I now udnerstand why. Dr. Flahaven was so nice, understanding, and thorough. He explained everything clearly, and gave us several different options as well. He really took his time with us, and it was much appreciated. Everyone there was very nice. They also offer a wellness plan, which is a huge savings. My baby puppy will be a forever patient!

Had been taking my dog here for years and doctor kept saying the problem was being caused by something else that I paid $25 twice a
Month for 3 years. Come to find out after doing my own homework he needed his tail removed. Went to a great doctor had it done and my dog is no log vet in pain. Wish this "vet" would have suggested this to me a long time ago.

Wonderful staff, and a very caring vet. They have taken such great care of my babies and my friends babies. I'm glad I found them when I did my poor lil girl was having terrible allergies and couldn't get it under control. Thankfully we finally did and shes doing better now because of it. Recently I had a major scare I was worried about my lil girls back and to make sure we did xrays, too my relief its just arthritis which was a major relief I would prefer nothing but this was the next best answer especially since it can be controlled when she's in pain. As most fur baby parents

Dr. Flahavin, his wife, Sarah, and the entire team are absolutely great. I first took one of my gravely ailing kitties to Dr. Flahavin with a terrible kidney infection and associated complications that my previous vet could not seem to get under control. Dr. Flahavin spent a lot of time assessing her and giving her the care she desperately needed. Thankfully Dr. Flahavin SAVED HER LIFE! She recovered and Dr. Flahavin is now my pet family's go to.
I have recommended this practice to my friends in the area. They always make accommodations for urgent pet health needs (appointments) as

I found a lump on my senior dog, Chester today. Because he had a history of fatty tumors in the past (before I adopted him) plus he was walking like it was interfering, I called the office right before they closed. They said bring him in! Chester can be nervous, but every time I've brought him here he's mellow! The Dr. did 2 needle biopsies, and they clipped his nails. :) After all that, my nervous-nellie dog came home just fine and promptly took a nap! I've never experienced a vet visit like this - I have TOTAL confidence in their entire staff, and barring an out of state move
